    The Director of Medical Engagement and Scientific Congress Lead is primarily responsible for leading the implementation of congress and external engagement strategies for the Solid Tumor US Medical Affairs team at Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine Oncology. This individual will lead the planning and execution of medical conference strategies by collaborating with internal stakeholders (US Medical Affairs, Global Medical Affairs, Commercial) and will report to the Head of Clinical Operations and Program Management. The ideal candidate will be a self-driven, strategic leader & have strong communication, time management, and conflict resolution skills to ensure congress materials meet compliance requirements. In addition, the candidate with provide vendor oversight and management to deliver congress materials by required timelines. The ideal candidate will have responsibility for supporting external engagement strategies by collaborating with key institution leads to identify collaboration opportunities and partnerships.

     

    **Strategic Planning and Execution:** Establish and lead a medical engagement and congress strategy and execution for Solid Tumor Medical Affairs. Coordinate stakeholder engagements in close partnership with vendors, US Medical Affairs members, and Global Medical Affairs. As part of strategic planning, manage budget planning process & finance reconciliations as it relates to congress medical engagement & congress strategy.

    **Regional Conference Strategy:** Lead the development and implementation of regional strategies to maximize touchpoints with international, national and regional opinion leaders. Partner with insights team to identify new congress opportunities.

    **Partnerships:** Collaborate with cross-functional internal stakeholders (Medical directors, MSL leads, Operations, Commercial congress partners) to build comprehensive execution plan for national conferences. Collaborate with Global Medical Affairs + US Hematology Medical Affairs ( _as applicable_ ) to align on medical booth content, design, and logistics.

    **Cross-functional Partnership:** Liaise with Legal, Regulatory, and Healthcare compliance to ensure all activities are compliant with policies and regulations. Collaborate closely with counterparts in US Medical Affairs, Portfolio Strategy & Execution & Global to drive innovation & share best practices

    **Flawless Implementation:** Drive continuous improvements and updates of medical booth content with innovative approaches and relevant visual content. Point person for establishing positive relationships with the leadership of congress associations to develop and implement a clear plan for securing a premium space for exhibit booth as well as for OL engagements. Accountable for strategically aligned and well-coordinated OL engagements with USMA, R&D and global medical affairs.

    **Executive Engagements:** Facilitate the planning and execution of executive engagements with Key Institutions by partnering with field medical, Strategic Account Leads and Key Account Managers to ensure effective outreach with clearly defined opportunities and actions.

    **Leadership:** Pre-conference preparation with senior leadership by providing congress strategy, calendar of events, expectations, and detailed briefing books. Provide onsite leadership & support at various conferences.

    **Agency Management:** Collaborate with external vendors to ensure content and resources are aligned with franchise strategy and strategic imperatives

    Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with 8+ years of related (pharmaceutical) work experience is required

    + Demonstrated project management skills to handle a high volume of work under demanding deadlines are required

    + Critical thinking, interpersonal skills, intellectual curiosity, strong communication skills, both written and oral and collaboration and teaming skills are required.

    + Experience leading and executing congress strategies and tactics

    + Experience with vendor management preferred

    + Strong leadership skills with an ability to set direction, generate commitment, resolve issues, and evaluate risk.

    + Demonstrated ability to anticipate and solve complex project issues.

    + Ability to navigate a highly matrixed environment.

    + Ability to travel up to 25% domestically

    + Desired, Oncology (Solid Tumor) knowledge and experience

     

    The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.

     

    The anticipated base pay range for this position is $160,000 - $276.000.
