    Custom Job Purpose:

    This position exists to perform responsible administrative work in directing the administrative functions of a Career Center.

     

    Essential Functions of this Job

     

    Assists Career Center Director in all areas of administration and operations. Assumes Director's duties in the absence of the Director. Maintains student discipline and interprets policy. Supervises clerical personnel and others as assigned. Counsels staff members and students on programs or policies. Assists in budget preparation.

     

    Assists in teacher evaluation at the Career Center. Supervises School insurance program. Prepares and edits technical and specialty material. Supervises student transportation, field and work trips. Implements public relations program. Coordinates with government officials, other school personnel, students, teachers, parents and the general public.

     

    Prepares and maintains reports and records. Prepares grant requests. Equips and furnishes new facilities.

     

    Non-Essential Functions of this Job

     

    Performs other duties as assigned.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    Considerable knowledge of School Board administrative policies and procedures. Considerable knowledge of school administration and personnel supervision. Ability to communicate effectively with school personnel and the public. Ability to prepare, maintain records and reports. Knowledge of federal grants requirements and application procedures. Knowledge of and ability to utilize interviewing and counseling techniques. Knowledge of and skill in using language arts. Bilingual/biliterate preferred.

     

    Education, Experience and/or Certification/License Requirements

     

    Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree. Certification as a Director of Local Vocational Programs or Administration and/or Supervision, Educational Leadership. Certification in Supervision desirable. Vocational classroom teaching experience. Experience in vocational program administration or supervision.

    Work Context:

    Requires sitting and some standing, walking and moving about to coordinate work. Requires coordinating or leading others in accomplishing work activities. Requires face-to-face discussions and contact with individuals and/or teams. Requires the use of alternative communication systems, such as electronic mail, telephones and computers. Requires coordination of work tasks to establish priorities, set goals and meet deadlines. Requires making decisions that affect other people, the financial resources, and/or the image and reputation of the District. Requires work with both internal and external contacts, and with the public.

    Physical Environment:

    Requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions and some areas not environmentally controlled. Requires sitting for a portion of the day, and the ability to lift, carry, move and/or position objects infrequently weighing up to 20 pounds. Requires travel to schools and work locations within the district.
