JOB DESCRIPTION
+ The Assistant Principal for MTSS will supervise professional staff funding through the Title I grant - including two reading specialists who service students receiving tier 3 as well as an RTI teacher aide. This supervision may include providing instructional feedback, oversight of scheduling, and the enrollment and rosters of students being served by staff.
+ This administrator will supervise the before and after school programs funded by Title I funds - including the enrollment, communication with families, scheduling room use, and instructional outcomes for each activity.
+ Additional roles of this position will include the supervision of universal screening - including the scheduling and implementing assessments, student data collection, and its use in enrollment into support services such as AIS.
+ Data monitoring of student progress will ensure that we identify the correct students for the right tier of support and that enrollment in AIS is fluid to address the students who have the highest level of need. As a student progresses, the level of support would decrease and another student might enter intervention.
+ Critical components of this position include supporting student data, leading data meetings, and participating in Instructional Support Team meetings.
+ Additional responsibilities will consist of being a part of the building team to provide activities to support student's social and emotional wellness - including faculty & staff observations.
+ Work collaboratively with the Behavioral Specialists, teacher(s), and support staff to facilitate
Functional Behavior Assessments, behavioral supports and interventions, and family
communications.
QUALIFICATIONS
+ Valid NYS Certification - School Building Leader Certification (SBL)
+ No less than five (5) years of experience in an educational setting - elementary preferred

+ Communicates verbally and in writing to reflect and support management team decisions and school board policies;

+ Keeps the building principal informed of school activities and problems in a timely manner.

+ Facilitates the development of human relations skills among staff;
+ Solicits information from school personnel and community in gauging school climate;
+ Rewards efforts of students and teachers;
+ Promotes improvement of student and staff self-image;
+ Fosters collegial relationships with and among teachers and staff;
+ Communicates high expectations for both staff and students and provides appropriate motivation.
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement curriculum with knowledge of:
+ District and school curriculum ensures teaching of the written curriculum, helps staff use curriculum resources;
+ Participates in and leads curriculum development activities commensurate with school and District goals;
+ Provides opportunities and encouragement for staff to increase program expertise;
+ Utilizes appropriate school and community personnel in evaluating curriculum;
+ Regularly uses the results of student data to identify problems and implement program improvements.
+ Emphasizes student achievement and social-emotional well-being as the primary outcome ofschooling;
+ Systematically assesses and monitors student progress. Whenever possible, uses objective and verifiable information;
+ Assists with providing meaningful information to parents and others regarding student progress;
+ Works with staff to systematically identify and respond to at-risk students;
+ Makes referrals to appropriate community agencies when needed.
Demonstrated record of educational leadership and school improvement:
+ Considers research findings and various inputs, alternatives, and consequences in the decision-making process;
+ Makes decisions in a timely fashion, maximizes decision effectiveness by follow-up actions and documents efforts;
+ Clearly communicates decisions and rationale to all affected;
+ Seeks information from appropriate sources and strives for consensus in the decision-making process;
+ Identifies problem areas and seeks solutions before crisis situations develop;
+ Effectively delegates decision making and problem-solving to appropriate personnel.
