Job Responsibilities:
+ Prepare and deliver reports and presentations of analytic results
+ Address emergent public safety threats in relation to gun violence activities in NYS
+ Perform a variety of research and analytical tasks
+ Collect, compile, validate, interpret, and analyze data and trends using standard practices and techniques of crime and/or law enforcement intelligence analysis
+ May perform statistical, spatial, and/or qualitative analyses as needed, making use of standard software packages;
+ Work on assignments that are moderately complex under direct or indirect supervision, where there is latitude for independent action and decision-making

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor degree in criminal justice, criminology, data analytics, public administration, or a related field plus 0 -1 year of experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
A Master's degree in criminal justice, criminology, data analytics, public administration, or a related field plus 0-1 year of experience in the field of criminology, criminal justice research, or criminal justice policy,
OR
Bachelor's degree in a social science field plus 3 years’ experience in the field of criminology, data analytics, criminal justice research, or criminal justice policy.

Job Summary:
_Please note: This position is stationed at Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office, 175 Arsenal St Watertown_
The employee analyzes and interprets data using predictive policing methods to distill and disseminate information to various Criminal Justice agencies. The employee gathers and analyzes crime statistics and identifies criminal trends through statistical crime and mapping technologies. This position requires specialized knowledge in the field of crime analysis theories and crime analysis software. The Crime Analyst will direct 100% effort, as regular fulltime employee (40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year) assigned to the project for the fiscal year.
_The Crime Analyst position is funded on DCJS through Jefferson County until June 30, 2026 and is expected to renew for a full year beginning July 1, 2027._
