    Overview

     

    Decisions are guided by policies, procedures, and business plan. This position receives guidance and oversight from manager. Typically, does not perform the work being supervised. Coordinates and supervises the daily activities of a Transportation regional operation. Accountable for all fleet operations within a designated region. Includes all maintenance and repair requirements for approximately 400 units with a replacement value of $25 MM. Manages a BU workforce of 15 to 18 employees in 3 to 5 facilities. Responsible for annual operating expenditures of 2 MM. Is the key contact for all fleet requirements within the designated region.

    Responsibilities

    • Responsible for all maintenance and repair activities involving any PPL fleet unit in the prescribed region. Manages Transportation department employees to meet fleet operational and availability performance targets. Ensures all government and industry guidelines or mandates are addressed and maintained. Vehicles and equipment inventory comprising responsibilities include: Forklifts, Passenger Cars, Digging Equipment - Digger Derricks, Backhoes, Bulldozers, Aerial Device Manlifts (35ft to 200 ft), Cranes, Line Stringing Equipment, Etc.

    • Provides direction and leadership for the safe and productive performance of duties by a skilled workforce. Directs BU personnel with established performance targets in safety, training, and operational performance. Requires knowledge and administration of the Labor Agreement that promotes an atmosphere conducive to fair labor practices.

    • Responsible for maintaining safe and efficient operating facilities to perform work and comply with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements. Includes meeting all environmental regulations in a responsible corporate manner.

    • Responsible for the direction and management of regional operating and manpower budgets.

    • Responsible for managing regional fleet budget and vehicle disposal procedures.

    • Responsible for establishing and maintaining the appropriate level of vendor resources to balance resources with maintenance requirements.

    • Responsible for maintaining a client and work group communication network that promotes superior service and quality.

    • If applicable, in-person supervision of employees to ensure compliance with FLSA wage and hour issues as well as to monitor compliance with safety rules.

    • All positions in which driving is an essential function of the job, regardless if the job code is marked safety sensitive or not, will also be included as safety sensitive.

    • May be assigned an Electric Utilities emergency and storm role. This is a special assignment that comes into play during storms and other emergencies when the company needs to restore power or respond to other issues affecting customer service. This role may necessitate the need to work after-hours, outside of your normal schedule.

    • The company reserves the right to determine if this position will be assigned to work on-site, remotely, or a combination of both. Assigned work location may change. In the case of remote work, physical presence in the office/on-site may be required to engage in face-to-face interaction and coordination of work among direct reports and co-workers.

    • Performs other duties as assigned

    1. High School Diploma, or equivalent.

    2. 5 years’ experience in transportation or fleet maintenance

    3. Strong Verbal and written Communication skills

    4. Ability to work well with individuals on all levels of the organization.
