    Job Title: Pre-K Classroom Teacher (Half-Day; Seasonal)

    Duration: Summer 2025: June 30, 2025 – August 22, 2025

    Work Hours: Monday – Friday from 8:30am-1:30pm (additional hours as needed)

    (Applicants are required to be available for the entire 8-week camp season)

    Salary Range: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour

    About the Position:

    The Township of Plainsboro is seeking a dynamic and experienced Pre-K Classroom Teacher for the

    Township’s seasonal summer Pre-K Camp (4-5-year-olds). The Pre-K Classroom Teacher is responsible for

    the health and well-being of campers and staff and are expected to help put into place a sensitive, well-

    rounded program that will create a positive learning and growing experience for the staff and campers. The

    Pre-K Classroom Teacher is required to plan, present, and supervise a variety of creative activities and

    follow the direction of the camp director and will work cooperatively with the camp director and other

    classroom teachers to put forth the best possible program. The Pre-K Classroom Teacher will be asked to

    perform related tasks as assigned including supervising and mentoring camp counselors. Position includes

    off-season preparatory work (flexible schedule – including mandatory staff training and camp set-up), as

    well as during the summer camp season (fixed schedule).

     

    Camp participant population for this position consists of children in Pre-K (ages 4-5).

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Communication & Collaboration:

    o Communicate effectively with camp participants, parents/guardians, staff, volunteers, and

    other stakeholders.

    o Collaborate with fellow specialty teachers, camp program leadership address parent/guardian

    concerns and questions promptly and professionally.

    • Risk Management & Safety:

    o Maintain implemented safety plan, including emergency procedures and first aid protocols

    o Ensure the well-being and safety of all campers at all times.

    Qualifications:

    • B.A. or B.S. degree (preferred)

    • One-year experience working with or teaching preschool age population.

    • One-year experience in camp administration (or comparable)

    • Ability to instruct and supervise staff.

    • Ability to accept guidance and supervision; ability to work collaboratively with other members of

    camp staff to promote a positive work environment.

    • Enthusiasm, patience, self-control; ability to adapt to the camp setting.

    • Prior camp experience.

    • CPR / First Aid Certification

    Desired Skills:

    • Experience with outdoor education and environmental programs.

    • Knowledge of child development and best practices in youth work.

    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    • Passion for working with children and creating positive learning experiences.
