Description
The QA Documenter is responsible for accurately compiling, reviewing, and maintaining quality assurance documentation related to ship repair projects. This position supports compliance with NAVSEA, ABS, USCG, and customer requirements by ensuring all required records, reports, and documentation are complete, timely, and properly archived.
+ Collect and organize quality documentation throughout the ship repair process, including inspection reports, test records, material certifications, weld maps, and work authorizations.
+ Review and verify documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with applicable standards and contract specifications.
+ Coordinate with QA Inspectors, production teams, and subcontractors to ensure timely submission and correction of documentation.
+ Support audits (internal and external) by reviewing and producing requested documentation and ensuring proper availability and traceability of required records.
+ Assist in preparing QA data packages and deliverables for customer review and final project closeout.
+ Conduct audits (internal) to ensure various QA programs comply with applicable standards and contract specifications.
+ Maintain document control systems, both electronic and hard copy, ensuring traceability and secure storage of records.
+ Track non-conformance reports (NCRs), corrective actions, and inspection milestones.
+ Support audits (internal and external) by producing requested documentation and ensuring availability of required records.
+ Administrate all aspects of the company's calibrated tool program to include the issuance and return of calibrated tools to/from employees, maintain calibration records of individual tools, and coordinate the re-calibration of tools according to applicable standards.
+ Communicate effectively with supervisors and project leads regarding document status and outstanding items.
+ Stay up to date on NAVSEA Standard Items and other relevant QA requirements for ship repair.

Qualifications
+ High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree or technical certification preferred.
+ Minimum 2 years of experience in a ship repair, marine, or industrial QA.
+ Ability to multitask and prioritize workload based on project needs.
+ Familiarity with NAVSEA Standard Items, QA practices, and shipyard operations.
+ Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
+ Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and document management systems.
+ Ability to create and maintain documentation across multiple databases in multiple file formats (doc, .xlsx, .pdf, .csv, etc.).
+ Ability to read and interpret work specifications, inspection reports, and engineering drawings.
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills.
+ Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
+ Must be able to obtain and maintain access to military shipyards and government facilities.
