Summary This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Responsibilities You will perform periodic and random inspections to determine compliance with applicable occupational safety and health laws and regulations. You will advise supervisors and safety representatives of appropriate safety and occupational health measures to control or eliminate hazardous practices, processes and environmental conditions. You will plan, organize, coordinate, direct, evaluate and conduct mishap investigation in accordance with current mishap prevention orders and directives. You will provide technical safety training to installation and unit safety representatives, inspectors and their employees using a wide variety of methods and media. You will establish, guide and encourage supervisor-employee safety committees to identify and eliminate hazardous equipment operations and unsafe working conditions. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Providing technical safety advice to commanders, directors, special staff officers, and managers on matters pertaining to specialized military activities and assisting in planning, scheduling, and conducting; a variety of inspections and surveys of a full range of workplaces and operations involving low, medium, and high level risk hazards. GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Providing technical safety advice to commanders, directors, special staff officers, and managers on matters pertaining to specialized military activities, conducting periodic and random inspections to determine compliance with applicable occupational safety and health laws and regulations, providing technical safety training to safety representatives and base personnel, to include safety presentations and posting and publishing of safety information to increase awareness, creating status briefs and reports with statistical data and charts to convey program performance and status to leadership. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Education In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience: GS-09 Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related GS-11 Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related A transcript must be submitted with your application if qualifying using education.
