Job Summary
Interlibrary Loan is a service whereby a user of one library can borrow books or receive articles from materials that are owned by another library. Document Delivery is a service that provides Marriott Library patrons PDF files of articles owned by our library. The employee in this position will process incoming Interlibrary Loan article requests from other libraries. After ownership of the articles is verified and retrieved from the library stacks or subscribed electronic resources, the employee will scan/download and deliver the requested materials electronically to the requesting libraries.
Additional duties include:
Assisting in processing article requests for our Document Delivery Service.
For the Library to be able to appropriately monitor hours worked, part-time employees are generally asked to restrict their work with the University of Utah to Library employment only, unless an exception is granted. Work-study applicants are allowed.
Responsibilities
+ Employee will be assigned tasks in any of the following areas of the department: Lending, Borrowing, Document Delivery or Course Materials. Those responsibilities include:
+ Verify ownership and availability of materials from the Marriott Library’s collection using several software programs
+ Retrieve books and journals from the library’s collections
+ Scan articles using various types of equipment and technologies
+ Search and download articles from library online databases, microfilm, or microfiche
+ Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Must be a current University of Utah student enrolled 6 undergraduate credit hours or 5 graduate credit hours during the fall and spring semesters.

+ Computer literacy and experience with using software
+ Comfortable with working independently and collaboratively
+ Good communication skills
