    Job Summary

    The Data Scientist will play a crucial role in supporting data analysis and management for the MD Program at the**Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine**. This position works closely with the Assessment Program Leadership Team and other leaders to wrangle data, analyze data sets, develop predictive and inferential statistical models, and provide actionable insights to improve educational outcomes and assessment processes.

     

    The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data management and statistical analysis and a passion for enhancing medical education through data-driven decision-making. Moreover, the successful candidate will demonstrate: (1) familiarity with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures; (2) ability to initiate and drive projects to completion with minimal guidance; (3) ability to communicate the results of analyses in a clear and effective manner; (4) mastery of relevant data management approaches and statistical analysis; and (5) experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Because the Data Scientist performs a variety of tasks and leads and directs the work of others, a wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

    Responsibilities

    + Collaborate with the Assessment Program Leadership Team and other MD Program leaders to identify data needs and develop strategies for data management, aggregation, analysis, interpretation, and secure distribution.

    + Work closely with leadership to develop technological solutions for its major projects.

    + Provide technical expertise in data management, including data cleaning, preprocessing, and integration.

    + Analyze MD Program medical student performance data and other data sets to uncover trends, patterns, and insights.

    + Develop and implement predictive and inferential models to forecast student performance and identify areas for student and program improvement.

    + Create visualizations and dashboards to enhance interpretation of analyses and to communicate findings to stakeholders.

    + Prepare reports and presentations to share insights with faculty, administrators, students, and others.

    + Gather, organize, analyze, present, and distribute MD program student performance data.

    + Stay current with advancements in data science to apply innovative techniques to educational assessment.

    + Develop an intimate understanding of the performance data within the overall MD Program.
