    Position Description:

    Aug Prep is looking for a Dean of Student Success at the Lower Elementary School level who loves Jesus, loves engaging students and families - particularly those struggling most - and loves building a strong and positive culture.  The Dean is responsible for shaping and sustaining Aug Prep's high school culture and ensuring that the students internalize Aug Prep's values for academic excellence and behavior expectations.  The Dean develops preventative interventions and ensures students who are not yet meeting expectations are provided with wraparound support and follow-through.

     

    This position is considered part of the Aug Prep Lower Elementary School leadership team.  Leaders at Aug Prep are year-round employees, attend all school events, help manage and direct the entire student body and staff, represent the school to external stakeholders, community members, and families and support the larger goals of the school as needed.

     

    Reporting Structure: The ES Dean of Student Success reports to the Lower Elementary School Principal.

    Job Responsibilities and Roles:

    The Dean of Student Success will:

    + Promote attitudes, behaviors, and skills for improved learning, including behavior modification, attendance, and academic success.

    + Encourage parental involvement in the pursuit of student achievement and positive faith-based school culture.

    + Support the school in implementing social emotional learning lessons

    + Collect and manage the culture 'metrics' of the school that include components of attendance, promotion requirements, academics, social-emotional well-being, and behavior.

    + Intervene and mediate behavior situations and work in conjunction with teacher, social work and parents to determine student success - may draft behavior plan and enter information into Infinite Campus after discussing with safety, student advisor and/or principal.

    + Discuss behavior/grading data with teams to promote, support, celebrate and improve any and all culture components.

    + Work collaboratively with parents/students as well as social workers, advisors, and teachers to bring resolution to situations where policies/protocols have been breached.

    + Report to the principal to highlight gathered data, gain approval for proposed solutions/resolutions to data/issues, and evaluate the effectiveness of systems/protocols put in place.

    + Serve as the first point of contact for teachers, advisors, and parents who present issues/situations related to student behavior and attendance.

    + Manage a caseload of families whose students are academically at risk.

    + Promote and maintain positive home/school relationships as well as facilitate parent events.

    + Collaborate with K-12 Deans of Student Success and Assistant Principals

    + Oversee tardies / absences / uniforms. Create systems to improve attendance, decrease suspensions and expulsions.

    + Plan and execute orientation and onboarding of new students, parents, and faculty as well as reset culture camps for all learners.

    + Plan and attend family involvement nights

    + Act in accordance with federal, state and local laws, statutes, and/or policies that related to students and families, and consult with school personnel to ensure compliance in those areas

    Required Qualifications:

    + The candidate must be mission-driven, demonstrate the highest integrity, and be able to live the values, beliefs, and culture of Aug Prep.

    + Bilingual (Spanish and English).

    + Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree preferred

    + Participating member of a church

    + Minimum 5 years experience teaching or social work, with a strong track record of successfully impacting student achievement and working successfully with students who have the greatest needs.

    + Proven ability to work cooperatively and effectively with colleagues, including the ability to create and nurture a professional community of adult learners.

    + Demonstrate leadership qualities, including the ability to see the big picture while working directly with students/families and staff to influence the details driving the overall direction.

    + Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including high impact facilitation of meetings and presentations, and giving and receiving constructive feedback.

    + Proven ability in using student-level data to guide instructional decisions.

    + Demonstrated teacher leadership with strong pedagogical knowledge and content expertise or clinical experience with adolescent youth.
