    Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

     

    The Director of Physical Production will oversee all aspects of physical production on NBC Universal Films from inception through delivery. They will oversee smaller feature film projects as well as work with Senior Physical Production Executives on larger projects during pre-production, production and post-production in order to gain experience on projects of all sizes and complexities.  Excellent time management, organizational and communications skills are essential.

    Essential Responsibilities:

    + Reports to President, Physical Production

    + Represents Universal Pictures on all assigned projects from inception through delivery

    + Budget and Schedule review on assigned projects

    + Facilitate and negotiate the hiring and/or approval of key below the line personnel and crew, including line producer, production designer, Costume designer, cinematographer, etc.

    + Approval of key locations, venues and sub-contractors

    + Administrating all pertinent paperwork

    + Monitoring schedules, production reports, hot costs, cash flows, cost reports

    + Screening dailies to give production related feedback

    + Liaison in-house with creative production team, business affairs, production finance, postproduction and publicity

    + Liaison during production with producers, UPM, production accountant.

    + Troubleshooting with producers when problems arise

    + Tracks up and coming talent and new technologies

    + Keeps up on changes in unions, guilds, locations (inc. tax incentives), crew and equipment rates

    Basic Qualifications:

    + Minimum of 5 years Film production or physical production experience at management levels.

    + Demonstrated experience in hiring key below-the-line personnel and crew, including line producers, production designers, costume designers, cinematographers, etc.

    + Proven proficiency with Budgeting and Scheduling software, Worf, Excel, Outlook.

    + Thorough knowledge of IATSE contracts across North America.

    + Demonstrated general knowledge of foreign film production, including locations, tax incentives and foreign crews

    Desired Characteristics:

    + Feature Film experience or studio physical production experience required.

    + Proven and extensive industry contacts

    + Willingness to travel and work overtime and weekends with short notice

    + Team player who enjoys both working independently and values being part of a team

    + Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    + Well organized with strict attention to detail

    + Ability to multi-task and prioritize work assignments in a highly challenging and constantly changing environment

    + Ability to work with and maintain confidential information

    + Work well under pressure

    + Bachelor’s degree preferred

    Additional Requirements:

    Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week

    Salary Range: $130,000-$150,000; bonus eligible, long-term incentive eligible.
