    Plant Engineer

    Position Overview

    Shaw Industries is looking for a Plant Enngineer to provide leadership, direction, and support for maintenance activities of Plants D4, D5, T6, and T8. Responsibilities include ensuring operational readiness for 4 manufacturing facilities. These operations include Turf Tufting at D4, Turf Game On at T6 and T8, as well as Yarn Twisting at plant D5. Plant D5 is a 7-day operation.

    Responsibilities:

    + Provide leadership for continuous improvement of the Facilities TPM System, with the measure being improved equipment reliability.

    + Effectively manage maintenance personnel. The central maintenance department includes 10 associates including reliability technicians, electricians and a maintenance planner. Support departmental maintenance associates which include 13 tufting technicians, 6 Game On technicians and 17 Twisting technicians.

    + Responsible for managing the maintenance budget. This includes providing leadership and direction across the 4 facilities to ensure there is a ROI for maintenance dollars spent and that there are ongoing initiatives to reduce maintenance related spend.

    + Ensure that technicians have the skills necessary to support the facility utilizing DOS tools.

    + Lead weekly planning and monthly TPM leadership meetings.

    + Provide necessary supervision to complete job assignments on schedule and in accordance with the defined scope.

    + Follow-up on jobs to ensure the quality of the work and the satisfaction of the customer.

    + Implement new methods and/or procedures to improve work methods, equipment performance, and product quality.

    + Develop, submit, and manage projects. Responsible for developing equipment specifications, obtaining bids, hiring contractors, supervising installations and writing project proposals as a certified project manager.

    + Manage/Build relationships with contractors and suppliers.

    + Must have the ability to evaluate the skill level of maintenance technician candidates during the interview process.

    + Responsible for the maintenance department, engineering installations and facility maintenance. This includes all aspects of the plant mechanical and electrical production machinery, buildings, and plant utilities.

    + Ensure the facility is compliant with regulations and standards and ensure that documentation reflecting compliance is readily available for audit. Responsible for maintaining equipment in compliance with OSHA and state environmental

    + regulations. This includes environmental concerns such as leaks, spills and any chemical releases into the environment.

    + Administer departmental and plant policies and procedures.

    + Prioritize Safety within the maintenance department as the priority.

    + Responsible for inventory/management of the supply rooms

    + Be an active member of various leadership teams in the plant

    + Other duties as assigned.

    Requirements:

    + 4-year Engineering degree (mechanical, electrical or similar)

    + 2 - 5 years prior leadership experience in a manufacturing environment required

    + Ability to lead others to desired results

    + Must be well organized, have strong computer skills, and strong people skills

    + Must be able to balance workload and manage time across the 4 facilities

    + The Maintenance Department is designed to provide 24/7 staffing to support production. This requires leadership to be available to provide support 24/7

    + Learn each production process in the plant and the operating parameters/specifications that are critical
