    Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm

    General Summary

    R&D Specialists play a key role in innovation projects at WellSpan, conducting consumer research, performing inside consulting, and facilitating workshops leading to the creation of new products and processes. The Specialist brings an empathy-first approach to understanding and solving for healthcare's most pressing problems.

    Essential Functions:

    + Participates in projects using human-centered design methods to create and grow new products and services through all lifecycle phases-planning; research; synthesis; strategy; ideation; design; and/or development for prototyping; alpha and beta launch; beta growth; and transition to enterprise scale/commercialization.

    + Serves as an organizational resource for R&D projects such as consumer research and inside consulting, new product and service development, and exploration of new platforms of capability.

    + Responds to client needs and communicates status and updates as needed to project lead. Obtains and applies feedback.

    + Fosters collaboration with other departments and vendors through the innovation process (planning, research, synthesis, design, prototyping and production).

    + Contributes to external consulting opportunities via Benjamin & Bond.

    + Plans and participates in culture-building design events, workshops, strategy sessions and meeting experiences.

    + Serves the organization as a resource on innovation-related subjects such as digital/connected health, human-centered design, digital marketing, modern advertising strategies, marketing automation, prototyping, agile development methodologies, etc.

    Common Expectations:

    + Demonstrated competency of innovation skills necessary to succeed, such as human-centered design, UI/UX, strategic planning, workshop facilitation, persona development, etc.

    + Ability to contribute to the growing library of tools and techniques the team uses to complete projects.

    + Ability to identify themes and trends in the industry and throughout our body of work.

    + Project planning skills.

    + Interpersonal skills.

    + Written and oral communication skills.

    + Ability to present their own work compellingly.

    + 2 - 4 years of applicable human-centered design, digital health and/or innovation experience.

    + Public speaking skills.

    + A desire to learn and a willingness to set explicit goals for development.

    + The willingness to think critically about the healthcare industry and the world of design.

    + The ability to both give and receive critique.

    + An implicit understanding of the value of diversity and equity in all phases of creative work.

    + The ability to work quickly and iterate.

    + Knowledge of the healthcare industry (services, finance, etc.) a significant plus.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Education:

    + Bachelors Degree Required

    Work Experience:

    + 2 years Relevant experience. Preferred

    + Knowledge of the healthcare industry (services, finance, etc.). Preferred

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    + Public speaking skills.

    + Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication and computer skills.

    + Ability to work from home or in an office depending on the needs of a project.
