    Hours: Monday - Friday, 8am - 4:30pm

     

    Hybrid work model - mostly remote with possible on-site presence as needed.

    General Summary

    Plays a key role in the corporate payroll tax function at WellSpan Health. Our employee base spans multiple FEINs with remote employees in many states. This position is responsible for hands on management of payroll tax to include required registrations, management of tax notices and quarterly balancing with ADP. The position partners with payroll and finance teams on payroll tax accounting and reconciliation.

     

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Essential Functions:

    + Maintains US state and local tax registrations for multiple entities.

    + Manages timely processing of federal, state, and local tax filings with accurate processing of payments in conjunction with ADP account manager and required tax jurisdictions.

    + Maintains jurisdiction tax compliance with required balance adjustments for federal, state, local and unemployment taxes within ADP's Smart Compliance application.

    + Monitors and facilitates all tax notices to resolution.

    + Audits and updates tax code mapping in Oracle and ADP applications to insure accurate and timely withholding and reporting of all tax types.

    + Reconciles periodic, quarterly, and annual tax report balancing between ADP and Oracle payroll application, including W2s.

    + Facilitates all tax amendments and adjustments as required.

    + Researches and resolves tax inquiries, tax accruals, and tax reconciliation issues with little to no direction from management.

    + Advises management about the impact of tax liabilities and new tax laws.

    + Partners with finance and payroll teams to identify and clear reconciling items.

    + Assists manager with payroll tax matters related to corporate acquisitions.

    + Responds to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders in a timely professional manner.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Education:

    + Bachelors Degree Accounting or related field. Required

    Work Experience:

    + 5 years ADP Smart Compliance payroll tax and reporting experience. Required and

    + 5 years Multi-state and local U.S payroll tax experience (local taxes to include PA/IN/OH). Required and

    + 10+ years Payroll experience in mid-to-large, high volume, multi-state company. Required

    Licenses:

    + Certified Public Accountant Upon Hire Preferred

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    + Complete understanding of payroll processes, tax laws, and federal, state and local regulations.

    + Experience with multi-state/local tax processing and filings in ADP tax application.

    + Knowledge of the tax licensing application process.

    + Proficient in Microsoft Office; ability to perform pivots, V-lookups and other functions in Excel.

    + Self-starter with strong attention to detail with ability to multitask and work independently.

    + A strong knowledge of U.S. state and local taxes is essential.

    + Broad knowledge of multi-state and local payroll tax law set up and maintenance within the ADP Smart Compliance application.
