    As Shared Laboratory Resources Specialist II in the Clinical Research Unit (CRU), you will perform a variety of laboratory activities, functioning as a key support to the operations and customers. In this role, you will also lead and participate in the training of other employees in proper procedures or SOPs, maintenance of equipment and other essential duties. Ultimately, your efforts contribute to the success of many clinical trials that offer patients and families hope for the future and treatment.

     

    A caregiver in this position works varying afternoon and evening shifts, with weekend requirements as needed.

    A caregiver who excels in this role will:

    + Demonstrate a consistent understanding of protocols and guiding principles and apply the protocols to experiments.

    + Conduct, evaluate experiment, assay and/or perform other laboratory activities.

    + Work with more senior mentors to learn and train on higher complex activities, as needed.

    + Calculate, compile and communicate results to the leadership or internal customer.

    + Perform quality assurance on all assigned activities per procedures or SOPs.

    + Perform intake functions for the laboratory, such as logging of samples and service requests, and the dissemination of basic information to users (i.e., minimum requirements for services, costs, etc.).

    + Maintain established laboratory inventories, ordering materials as necessary.

    + Prepare and operate equipment for experiments, assays, measurements, etc.

    + Perform maintenance and minor equipment repairs, according to manufacturer and Core guidelines.

    + Clean and perform general maintenance on equipment, according to established protocols.

    + Execute and facilitate delivery of specialized services.

    + Interact with primarily with Core personnel but may have increasing interaction with Core users.

    Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

    + Associate's Degree in a relevant scientific field and two years of experience OR Bachelor's Degree OR four years of directly related experience

    + Certification in appropriate field per department or core protocol within one year of hire

    Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

    + Strong interest in research

    + Comfortable handling specimens collected from humans, including COVID positive materials and chemical hazards

    Physical Requirements:

    + May be exposed to hazardous biological, vaporous and odorous materials

    + Manual and visual dexterity required.

    + Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

    + Continuous lifting, standing and walking.

    Personal Protective Equipment:

    + Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

     

    Pay Range

     

    Minimum hourly: $20.77

     

    Maximum hourly: $31.68

A successful candidate's actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate's work history, experience, skill set, and education.
