Professional Rank and Salary Range: Dependent on qualifications
+ Instructor Level: $50,000 - 55,000
+ Assistant Professor Level: $55,000 - 62,000
Duration: Academic Year (this position follows the 10-month Academic Calendar)
About our Program:
Since 2009, SUNY Morrisville has been a recognized leader in technical education for renewable energy. This position offers the opportunity to join a dynamic team of faculty and staff committed to hands-on training in renewable energy systems. The role is closely integrated with the college's state-of-the-art Agricultural and Clean Energy Technology (ACET) Center, built in 2021. This 30,000-square-foot facility features indoor laboratories for solar PV and hot water systems, wind turbine installation and maintenance, tower climbing safety and rescue, clean heating and cooling (including heat pumps), and biofuels. The facility also includes an 86-kW solar PV array used exclusively for instructional purposes.

Brief Description of Duties:
SUNY Morrisville is seeking an Instructor or Assistant Professor (Open Rank) in the Renewable Energy Department. The primary focus of this role is undergraduate teaching and workforce development. The successful candidate will contribute to program growth, curriculum development, and be involved in grants and technical training initiatives. Teaching responsibilities typically include 14-17 contact hours per week (lectures and labs). Most classes are structured with 2 lecture hours and 2-3 lab hours weekly.
Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Teach undergraduate courses in renewable energy
- Develop and expand workforce training through SUNY Morrisville's Renewable Energy Training Center
- Support recruitment and outreach efforts
- Pursue funding opportunities to enhance workforce development capacity
- Build partnerships with industry and educational institutions
- Develop curriculum that aligns with current and emerging industry needs
- Participate in campus service activities such as committees, student advising, and program assessment.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
+ Teaching experience at the collegiate or vocational level in renewable energy or a related/relevant field.
+ Practical experience outside of academia, relevant to the renewable energy industry.
+ Education:
+ Assistant Professor Level: Masters degree or higher in renewable/sustainable energy, engineering/technology, or a closely related field
+ Instructor Level: Bachelor's degree in renewable/sustainable energy, engineering/technology, or a closely related field
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Graduate Degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in a field relevant to the needs of the renewable energy industry
+ Hands-on technical experience in the renewable energy industry (e.g., solar, wind, HVAC/heat pumps, tower climbing)
+ Industry certifications such as NABCEP, IGSHPA, EPA 608, or Competent Climber/Rescuer
+ Proficiency in using learning management systems (e.g., Brightspace, Blackboard)
+ Experience teaching in online, hybrid, or HyFlex formats
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
