Job Description:
The Ambulatory Nurse Director provides leadership and strategic nursing direction for the Medical Group Service Lines and system Shared Clinical Services. The Ambulatory Nurse Director partners with the Medical Group AVP of Operations to ensure system-wide standards for clinical care are followed and that clinical care aligns with the vision and strategy of the Medical Group. The position is a market (outside of the Salt Lake area) leadership role reporting to the Executive Nurse Director of the Medical Group. The Ambulatory Nurse Director operates in a dyad leadership structure with the Market Operations AVP and is responsible for leading the strategic direction, continuous improvement, and performance of the Medical Group clinical caregivers across all fundamentals of extraordinary care, including safety, quality, access, stewardship, patient experience, caregiver engagement and smart growth. The Ambulatory Nurse Director works collaboratively with senior leaders across Intermountain Healthcare including Intermountain Medical Group senior leaders, other Medical Group Market Leaders, Providers, Community-Based Care, Specialty-Based Care, Clinical Programs, Clinical Services, Care Management, Office of Patient Experience, and SelectHealth.
Job Essentials
Responsible for the overall caregiver clinical care in the Medical Group market in partnership with the Market Medical Group Leadership Team as a dyad/triad partner.
Responsible for implementing, maintaining and monitoring standards of care and attainment of organizational goals.
Manages professional development and conduct, supports leadership and development, and mentors nursing leaders.
Manages work of Regional Nurse Consultants and Medical Assistant Consultants to ensure safety, quality of care, meet training and educational needs of clinical staff, clinical competency, event review and compliance.
Models and fosters an environment of clinical professionalism.
Facilitates collaborative problem solving among interdepartmental disciplines.
Provides direction for budget and KPIs (e.g., ensure nursing considerations are taken into account). Provides support and education to clinical caregivers for meeting financial goals.
Accountable for advancing Intermountain Healthcare?s capabilities in clinically-based fundamentals of care.
Creates a culture of continuous process improvement to deliver our vision of extraordinary care, while promoting consistency and strategic direction. Develops culture of safety which drives best practices.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.

Master's Degree in Nursing, Business Administration or Healthcare Administration. Degree(s) must be obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified.
Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
Active Utah Nursing Licensure,
- or -
in process of obtaining
- and -
Five years of progressive healthcare leadership experience.
- and -
Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- and -
Effective conflict resolution skills to work effectively with difficult issues.
- and -
Experience with change management and leading in the adaptation and implementation of new processes or technology that enhance safety.
- and -
Ability and willingness to travel throughout market geography (up to 80% of time), as well as within the State of Utah.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in a complex health system (e.g., hospitals, ambulatory clinics, post-acute care).

Experience in the development and implementation of clinical and business quality improvement initiatives.
- and -
Sophisticated knowledge of clinical informatics/IT systems.
With this position, you are eligible to participate in the Annual Pay for Performance (AP4P) Plan. This plan enables Intermountain Health to provide leaders with an additional performance compensation opportunity. The AP4P award opportunities are calculated as a percentage of your base salary. Awards are paid out based on attainment of selected Board-approved goals.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
$57.75 - $89.14
