Job Description:
The Manager of Spiritual Care and Mission Integration is responsible for overseeing the spiritual care services, department initiatives, and formation programs. Works with the Director of Mission Integration to ensure that the hospital’s Catholic identity, mission, values, and core commitments are integrated into all aspects of patient care and caregiver support. This role combines administrative, clinical, management, and strategic responsibilities to foster an environment of whole person care.
Essential Functions:
+ Manages the operation of all Spiritual Care deliverables and the performance of all procedures in the department. Collaborates with the Director of Spiritual Care and Mission Integration in planning and delivering formation, human resource management, budgeting, patient satisfaction, patient safety, communication, and compliance with regulatory agencies.
+ Maintains effective and appropriate Chaplain staffing and scheduling to ensure quality and essential patient and family care and caregiver support. Promotes staff flexibility, cross-training and professional development. Provides clear verbal and written communication and appropriately utilizes all communication outlets including rounding, huddles, team meetings, etc. to share information, support and promote spiritual care and mission across the service lines.
+ Provides ongoing, direct Spiritual Care support for patients, families, and caregivers to ensure continuity, coverage and consistency. Partners with the Director to determine Market expectations including the level and duration of Spiritual Care support and services provided. Provides Spiritual Care coverage for as needed, including unstaffed shifts occasionally outside standard working hours.
+ Provides solutions to address issues relating to patient care, safety and service. Promotes effective working relationships, as a team and interdepartmentally, Ensures coordination of care with other teams/departments. Participates in interdisciplinary committees throughout the market as determined by the Director.
+ Manages human resource functions for the department, including interviewing, selection, orientation, education/training, feedback, and policy and procedures. Oversees department timekeeping and payroll. Collaborates with HR concerning employee issues and performance. Conducts employee coaching, counseling, disciplinary actions, and Check-Ins. Regularly schedules and facilitates department meetings.
+ Prepares statistical data related to department productivity metrics to measure and drive Spiritual Care quality and best practices.
+ Participates as a member of the Ethics Committee and supports the work of the committee.
+ Ensure awareness of, and compliance with, the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Healthcare Services
+ Works with Mission leader to provide formation opportunities and Mission initiatives for caregivers and leaders.

Required Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) from an accredited academic institution recognized by the Department of Education, or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
+ Master’s Degree (or equivalent) in Divinity or Theology from an accredited academic institution recognized by the Department of Education, or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
+ Minimum of four units Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) preferably accredited by the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE).
+ Ecclesiastical endorsement from an official endorsing body of faith or denomination
+ Board Certification by the National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC), Association of Professional Chaplains (APC), National Association of Jewish Chaplains (NAJC), or other agency following the Common Practice Standards of Professional Chaplaincy within 1 year of hire date.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Completed Board Certified Chaplain by the National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC), Association of Professional Chaplains (APC), National Association of Jewish Chaplains (NAJC) or other agency following the Common Standards of Professional Chaplaincy (cognate partners).
+ Four years of Pastoral or Spiritual Care experience in healthcare ministry. One year of management experience.
+ Healthcare management/leadership experience preferred.
+ Strong preference is for an active Catholic; exceptions include only candidates supportive of the Catholic heritage and practices.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
$37.98 - $58.61
