    Vice President for Enrollment and Retention Management

    POSITION DETAILS

    York College is a vibrant institution that sits in the heart of Southeast Queens, and in the most ethnically diverse borough in NYC and the United States. Founded in 1966, York was the first senior college founded under the newly formed CUNY system, which united several previously independent public colleges into a single public university system in 1961.     The Vice President for Enrollment and Retention Management at York College will be responsible for the college’s recruitment, admissions and enrollment planning and retention efforts. The Vice President is responsible for personnel, budget and operations in the Division of Enrollment Management and will serve as a member of the President’s Cabinet. The role shall serve as a visible campus leader, develop and incorporate innovative practices into plans and strategies for increasing enrollment, retention and graduation rates.

    Duties include but are not limited to:

    + Provide visionary leadership for a comprehensive enrollment and retention management strategy that aligns with the College’s mission and strategic goals.

    + Promote a culture of assessment characterized by continuous improvement and accountability by using analytics and institutional research to guide decision-making and measure success.

    + Actively participate in College wide Strategic Planning, Middle States Self Study, Academic Master Planning efforts, and lead the development of a Strategic Enrollment Plan.

    + Provide executive oversight of Financial Aid, Admissions, Welcome Center, Registrar, and Academic Advising.

    + Champion student retention and completion efforts through data-informed strategies and collaborative initiatives across academic and student affairs.

    + Utilize university systems (Course Dog, CUNYFirst, EAB Navigate) to manage and optimize recruitment, admissions, and enrollment processes.

    + Ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations governing financial aid, admissions, and records management.

    + Collaborate with the divisions of Academic and Student Affairs, the Office of Communications and Marketing, faculty, and external partners to attract, support, and retain students.

    + Ensure effective staffing, professional development, and evaluation of personnel within the division.

    + Represent the College at university, local and regional settings and foster positive relationships with K-12, business, and community partners.

    + Lead the College’s engagement strategy for prospective students,traditional undergraduate and graduate markets, online learners, and adults with some college credit and no degree.

    + Other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    OPEN ONLY TO CURRENT CUNY EMPLOYEES

    This position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan. All executive positions require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience.

     

    + Eight to ten years of demonstrated progressive leadership experience in higher education enrollment management

    + Master’s or Ph.D. in Public Administration, Business Administration, Higher Education, or related field

    + Experience as a director in an enrollment management unit (admissions, registrar or finance)

    Additionally, the Vice President shall have:

    + Proven record of success in Enrollment Management or related area.

    + Experience with enrollment /student information systems.

    + Demonstrated understanding and application of salient financial aid, federal regulations and CUNY policies and best practices.

    + Strong background in student success initiatives.

    + Track record of using data and research to inform and drive enrollment and retention strategies.

    + Experience working in a multi-campus system with baccalaureate and/or graduate programs.

    + Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaborative leadership skills.

    + Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to innovate and lead change in a dynamic educational environment.

    + Demonstrated success in developing and executing enrollment and retention strategies with measurable results.

    + Strong understanding of enrollment technologies, predictive analytics, and market research tools.

    + Exceptional leadership and team-building skills; a track record of fostering collaboration across diverse institutional stakeholders.

    + Superior communication and interpersonal abilities, including the capacity to effectively represent the college compellingly to internal and external audiences.

    $185,000 - $200,000 - Salary commensurate with education and experience.
