Description:
The position manages and sustains established loss control services to Ministry Risk Management programs including, but not limited, providing loss prevention expertise on clinical topics, managing and analyzing risk management event data, providing educational programs and training related to the Trinity Health event management system, facilitating collaborative stakeholder meetings, and orienting and on-boarding new Ministry Risk Managers to the Trinity Health event management system.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Knows, understands, incorporates and demonstrates the Trinity Health mission, vision, and values in behaviors, practices and decisions.
Collaborates with Loss Control Directors and member/service organization Risk Managers to develop action plans that addresses opportunities for improvement identified in risk assessments and assists with implementation of the plan through education, consultation and on-site assistance.
Analyzes risk management data to identify patterns/trends that could result in compensable events. Findings of surveys, studies and special projects are used to assist in long term planning and to identify changes needed to policies and systems to facilitate reductions in risk and losses.
Assists in the development of programs and tools to reduce the frequency/severity of incidents involving patients, visitors and employees. Assists in monitoring compliance and improvements following implementation.
Collaborates with Loss Control Directors to develop and present educational materials and programs to address training needs identified throughout Trinity Health or by an individual member/service organization related to risk management, loss prevention/control, regulatory requirements and standards.
Collaborates with Loss Control Directors and others to develop goals and objectives for implementation and monitoring across Trinity Health.
Organizes and facilitates monthly meetings with member/service organization’s risk managers and others.
Oversees the Loss Control Coordinators as it relates to management of meetings and materials.
Collaborates with other members of the Insurance and Risk Management Services team to develop and lead new risk managers and other member/service organization stakeholders.
Participates on committees related to mitigating risks to patient safety.
Maintains current expertise by review and evaluation of current literature, attendance at risk management workshops, etc. Provides member organization risk managers with pertinent information on current risk management topics.
Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local laws/regulations; the Trinity Health Integrity and Compliance Program and Code of Conduct; as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behavior.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Must possess knowledge of healthcare risk management and loss prevention techniques and
operations, as normally obtained through a bachelor's degree in healthcare, nursing, insurance
or other related fields, and 3-5 years of healthcare risk management experience.
2. Working knowledge of The Joint Commission standards, and Federal and state statutes,
regulations and codes required.
3. Strong analytical skills and ability to organize and communicate information verbally and in
writing with all levels of the organization.
4. Initiative and the ability to influence change without direct authority.
5. Must possess strong ability to meet deadlines and respond to shifting priorities.
6. Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
7. Must possess computer skills and be able to operate IRMS systems and standard desktop tools
including PC, Windows, GroupWise, e-mail, Word, Excel, STARS, databases, and so forth.
8. A personal presence, which is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity and caring with the
ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals and
values of Trinity Health, is essential.
9. Knowledge and working relationships in quality management and improvement is preferred.
Hourly pay ranges: $46.31 - $69.46
