Accounting Associate
Our client in Holyoke, Mass. the largest and most admired community bank in Western Massachusetts, is seeking an Accounting Associate to join their Finance and Accounting team.
The primary responsibility for the position will be to assist with managing and balancing the general ledger, including reconciliations and the month end closing process. Additional responsibilities include daily/monthly reconciliation process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
+ Reviews certain balancing accounts for any unusual activity. Researches, resolves and reports any problems in a timely manner.
+ Assists in preparing/compiling daily/monthly balance sheet account reconciliations to ensure all are completed timely and accurately.
+ Assists reporting manager with monthly reconciliation workflow in Vena, including recon matrix, stale dated items memo and report of unreconciled items.
+ Provides back-up to other department staff.
+ Responds to ad hoc requests from CFO, Controller and Accounting Officer.
+ Completes all yearly compliance training and testing and complies with bank, federal, and state regulations. Complies with Bank Policies and Procedures. Adheres to departmental and bank-wide CARE standards.
+ Other duties may be assigned
**Qualifications** :
Education and/or Experience:
4-year degree in finance or accounting
1 to 2 years of relevant experience
OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
Skills needed:
+ Thorough understanding of basic accounting principles and procedures, with ability to train others in related practices and procedures.
+ Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
+ Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
Computer Skills:
+ Very strong Excel skills
+ MS Office tools
