Extended Program Coordinator
Children’s Day School (CDS) is a co-educational preschool through eighth grade school serving over 470 students in the Mission Dolores neighborhood of San Francisco. Spanning two campuses, and home to a diverse community of students, faculty, and families, CDS is a vibrant learning community. CDS is located on a beautiful, secluded half-acre in the Mission near Dolores Park. Our aftercare program employs the use of indoor classrooms, environmental ed. kitchen, wood chips area, climbing structure, farm, and garden (featuring chickens and two sheep!), and a play yard among the largest of independent schools in the city.
The Role
Reporting to the Extended Program Director, the Extended Program Coordinator is responsible for providing outstanding student and staff support that meets the emotional, physical, social, and intellectual needs of the children and is consistent with the mission and philosophy of CDS. This is a year-round position with health, retirement, and paid vacation/sick benefits.
Schedule:
+ During the school year, the daily schedule is 9:30am - 6pm Monday – Friday with intermittent weekend flexibility
+ Varying full-time hours during the summer program and vacation camps.
+ This position starts the week of August 13th
Responsibilities:
+ Work closely and communicate directly with the Extended Program Director regarding all programmatic happenings involving the after-school program, vacation camps and summer camp.
+ Manage the day-to-day logistics of the aftercare program and spend the hours of 2:30–5:30 pm each day on the yard and in the classrooms with students.
+ Assist the Extended Program Director in administrative duties, including but not limited to data entry, vendor correspondence, surveys, reconciliation, and contracts.
+ Support summer camp programming by assisting the Extended Program Director with programmatic planning and administrative support and leading specialized camps.
+ Liaise and collaborate with school-wide faculty and staff to ensure student and program success
+ Work closely with the front desk team to ensure smooth operating of dismissal, sign-in/sign-out, and pick-up from aftercare
+ Assist in the planning and leading of break and conference camps.
+ Collaborate on planning new staff orientation, professional development workshops, and the weekly meeting agenda for after-school staff.
+ Coordinate monthly duty rotations for after-school teachers.
+ Coordinate logistics and support needs of the teaching team, including supplies and snacks
+ Design and maintain a monthly Extended Program blog.
+ Maintain activity registration and attendance databases
+ Assist the Extended Program Director in additional administrative duties as assigned
+ Assist with communication with enrichment and music providers
+ Assume the responsibilities of the Extended Program Director in their absence.

Requirements:
+ Bachelor’s degree in education or in a related field. Have experience teaching or leading youth activities.
+ Excellent interpersonal skills as well as a sense of humor
+ Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
+ Able to work occasional nights and weekends
Compensation
$32.68 - $36.31 per hour, based on qualifications and experience. Excellent benefits offered, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, generous PTO, and employer-paid retirement plan.
