    Job Description

    As one of the largest global security companies in the world, Northrop Grumman is proud to help our nation’s military personnel make the transition to civilian careers. Approximately 1/4th of Northrop Grumman’s 90,000 employees self-identifies as veterans, and more than 1,600 are reservists. The Northrop Grumman Military Internship Program (NG-MIP) is an approved SkillBridge Program under Dept. of Defense Instruction 1322.29. The NG-MIP program is an opportunity for transitioning service members to gain valuable civilian work experience through an individual internship during their last **6 months of service** , for up to **180 days** . The Northrop Grumman Military Internship Program is open to all ranks and experience levels.  SkillBridge participants are **not eligible for compensation** from Northrop Grumman, as they continue to receive military compensation and benefits as **Active-duty service members** .

    Responsibilities for this internship position are:

    Northrop Grumman Corporation (NGC) has developed the Northrop Grumman – Military Internship Program (DoD SkillBridge) utilizing the DoDI guidance for Skillbridge. During this program the service member will be on-site at his or her host company performing an individual internship in an entry to mid-level career type role. The service member will be on the job training supporting a work schedule equivalent to 40hrs per week. Outlined below are the Goals, Objectives, and Outcomes for the program.

    _Goals – Provide transitioning service members fellowship-style job skills training during the last_ _portion_ _(s) of their military commitment. This program is specifically designed to offer internships that result in the potential to transition to a full-time opportunity as the conclusion of the training. Interns will serve as a pipeline for high-speed, motivated military candidates into NGC._

     

    _Objectives - Service Members who complete the Intern program will be highly trained, capable, future employees that align to the specific needs of the organization and are prepared to meet the NG mission “Defining Possible” on Day 1. This program provides a comprehensive internship experience including professional development, networking with leadership, and training specifically focused on NG leadership principles, company history, customer/stakeholder engagement, product and service overview, and core job responsibilities._

     

    _Outcome – Offer transitioning service member a rewarding opportunity to join the Northrop Grumman team._

    DoD SkillBridge Eligibility:

    - Has served at least 180 days on active duty

     

    - Is within 12 months of separation or retirement

     

    - Will receive an honorable discharge

     

    - Has taken any service TAPS/TGPS

     

    - Has attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months

     

    - Received Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in DoD SkillBridge Program prior to start of internship.

    Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is looking for you to join our Defense Systems team as a Manager Spares Management 2 based out of Warner Robins, GA.

     

    This position requires multi-disciplined knowledge in all areas related to material planning, material cost scheduling, supply chain coordination, and material procurement. As the Material Manager you will create and manage statistical material models that can accurately forecast material cost and demand for production and repair lines for the Warner Robins Depot facility. The Material Manger will lead a team that will identify material requirement and schedule the delivery of material to meet the demand. The manager will be responsible for the review of historical usage trends, research demand drivers, prepare forecast data and provide resolution for shortages. The Material Manager will report to the OU Material Operations Manager but will be required to work cross-functionally with program managers, production floor managers, and repair depot managers to ensure all requirements are met.

     

    Leadership characteristics and people engagement is of the upmost importance, with an ability to exhibit professionalism and create a team working and learning environment. Communication is paramount, with an ability to clearly define expectations and work through issues. Additional leadership characteristics include the ability and willingness to step-up and assume accountability when the perception of need exists, and an ability to accomplish tasks in a positive manner while managing multiple projects at the same time with varying levels of maturity.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

    + Manages and executes the activities of material planning, determines material requirements, schedules, and monitors the movement of material

    + Coordinates with Global Supply Chain to ensure purchase orders are placed per the demands of the program and that suppliers are meeting the tasks outlined in Statements of Work.

    + Provides direction and leadership a team of Material and Logistics Analysts which will identify material demand and schedule for delivery of material.

    + Identifies critical material shortages and resolving material related issues due to supply based problems, inventory errors or demand changes.

    + Ultimately responsible for inventory control ensuring stock levels are maintained at an appropriate level by coordinating the efficient movement of materials with Global Supply Chain, production floor, repair depot, or the material stores group.

    + Accurately budget and forecast costs by using statistical planning models to forecast the material demand.

    + Works collaboratively with other functional areas to meet program commitments.

    + Drives the material health process, continuous improvement, and affordability initiatives within the program.

    Basic Qualifications:

    + A Bachelor's degree and 8 years of experience or Master’s Degree and 6 years of experience in supply chain, material management, supplier management or relatable field. Experience should be in a production, repair, and/or depot environment; an additional 4 yrs. of direct relevant experience may be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.

    + Demonstrated success in leading teams or projects with a minimum of 2 years of managing people

    + Proven success in cost forecasting and budget preparation.

    + Demonstrated ability to gather and analyze data and provide executable plans to resolve complex issues arising from the findings

    + Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)

    + US citizen and ability to obtain a DOD Secret Security Clearance.

    + Required to obtain/maintain access to work on-site in Warner Robins, Georgia

    + Meets DoD SkillBridge qualifications as per DODI 1322.29

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Proficiency in statistical and mathematical material modeling techniques with the ability to analyze large amounts of data for developing projections and estimates.

    + Minimum 4 years of material planning, supply chain, or programs management experience

    + In depth knowledge of material management in a depot or production environment

    + Experience with systems such as MES, Gold, MRP, and SAP

    + 3+ years of experience working with suppliers, forming strategic relationships and analyzing possible risk positions.

    + Understanding of Obsolescence and Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS)

     

    Salary Range: $101,500.00 - $152,300.00

     

    The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

     

    Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
