Job Overview
Hubbell is seeking a motivated Manufacturing Technician / CNC programmer & operator to join our team.
The ideal candidate should be proficient at setting up, maintaining, programming and operating a CNC machine as well as have an in-depth knowledge of tooling and fixturing. In addition, a strong ability to collaborate with engineers and influence the design and cost for parts.
This is a hands-on job, ensuring high-quality output and innovative solutions for our additive manufacturing processes. We are an entrepreneurial team building a new manufacturing facility and as such everyone is expected to wear multiple hats. We are looking for someone who excels in a dynamic role, effectively balancing multiple responsibilities in addition to the CNC operation such as helping in the quality lab, shipping/receiving, and general manufacturing where needed.
A Day In The Life
Lead the programming, set up, and operation of CNC machines.
Provide manufacturing advice and DFM (Design for manufacturability) for CNC and other manufacturing processes. Interface with manufacturing engineers to collaboratively design parts.
Design and manufacture fixtures for prototypes and high-volume production parts.
Assist the production team in assembling parts for production.
Inspect parts to an engineering drawing utilizing tools such as calipers, gauge pins/blocks, 3D scanners, optical comparators, profilometers, hardness testers, and more.
Assist in the growth and development of the manufacturing space. Help specify new equipment, manage and operate existing equipment, and maintain the space in a safe and orderly manner.
Perform preventative maintenance and coordinate with suppliers for upgrades/repairs.
Maintain tooling and material stock supply.
Get hands on with quality equipment to ensure our products meet customer requirements.
Document and maintain process parameters, standard operating procedures, and work instructions.
Assist with shipping, receiving, and scheduling to ensure efficient material flow and timely deliveries.
What will help you thrive in this role?
High school or vocational training and 3 to 5 years of previous machining experience.
Ability to read and interpret dimensioned drawings as well as CAD models.
Experience with CAD software such as Fusion 360, Autodesk Inventor, or Solidworks.
Experience with CAM software.
Experience with Okuma OSP Controls preferred.
GD&T Experience preferred.
Experience with quality control and assurance equipment and processes is a plus, but not required.
Knowledge of lean manufacturing preferred.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Adaptable, results-oriented, comfortable with uncertainty, and effective at managing change.
Able to move quickly on a variety of projects while still adhering to process.
