The Radiation Oncology Department at the University of Miami has an exciting opportunity for a Director of Nursing.SUMMARY
The Director of Nursing oversees the standard of nursing practices for the organization’s nursing services. The incumbent in this position will participate with other members of Nursing Services and Administration in the development of patient care programs, policies, and procedures in compliance with ethical and legal requirements. The Director of Nursing is also responsible for the implementation of an effective and ongoing program to monitor, evaluate, and improve the quality and appropriateness of nursing and other direct patient related care. He/she will provide leadership and mentoring for nursing staff, and will participate with governing officials, managerial staff,
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
+ Coordinates with units directors in the development and implementation of nursing practice/care standards and services
+ In collaboration with unit directors, reviews and updates nursing policies and procedures in accordance with professional nursing guidelines and standards
+ Ensures compliance with appropriate regulatory requirements
+ Assesses the quality of care rendered and implements an effective, on-going program to measure, asses, and improve the quality of nursing care, treatment, and other services delivered to patients
+ Determines appropriate delivery of care models for areas of responsibility
+ Develops, implements, and monitors annual budgets
+ Plans, develops, and implements a budgeted process for staffing and services rendered
+ Evaluates the quality and cost-effectiveness of staffing and nursing services within the goals of the organization
+ Participates in the evaluation of current services and programs, proposed changes, and expansion of services and programs
+ Assesses staff competency and compliance with standards of care
+ Defines qualifications, competence, and performance expectations for the staff
+ Assures appropriate communication among care givers to ensure safe patient care
+ Participates in hospital committees as needed
+ Provides leadership and direction for all staff
+ Performs other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills
+ Strong interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate well with others
+ Proven track record of building relationships with physicians, direct reports and key staff
Education Requirements (Essential Requirements):
+ Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a related field
+ Valid/current state of Florida Nursing license
Work Experience Requirements
+ Five years of relevant nursing experience in a medical setting; management nursing experience preferred
