*Respiratory Therapist - Job Description *

*Shift Hours: 36 hours per week. Evening/Night 6:30pm - 7:00am with rotating weekends and holidays. *

* JOB SUMMARY: *

Provides quality respiratory care to patients according to established procedures.

* JOB FUNCTIONS: *

• Provides respiratory care modalities to patients as ordered by physicians or approved protocols.

• Develops, implements and revises patient care plans.

• Ensures prepackaged medications are labeled with patient information and has the correct drug, dosage, and dosage form.

• Discusses orders for respiratory care with providers, nurses, supervisors, and care teams.

• Verifies and accurately documents pertinent patient care data including assessment, procedures and patient education in medal record.

• Assembles, prepares, cleans, and operates respiratory care equipment per established clinical and infection control practices.

• Documents patient safety issues in safety intelligence.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Complies with all policies and standards.

Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Associates Degree in Respiratory Therapy from an approved and accredited program or university.

Licenses/Certifications Required: All of the following: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Basic Life Support (BLS) by AHA Advanced Life Support (ACLS) by AHA Licensed by the Texas Medical Board (TMB) to practice Respiratory Care.
