Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Marketing & Communications, the Marketing Specialist supports the Communications department's efforts to cultivate and grow awareness of the Goodwill Industries of Kansas organization and mission. Responsibilities include creating and designing content to increase brand awareness and produce tangible results across all aspects of the organization. The role assists in the marketing of Goodwill’s mission, program services, and retail operations in order to positively impact revenue to better fulfill the organizational mission/goals.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in communications, advertising, graphic design, public relations or marketing or a minimum of 3 years of related work experience in marketing required. Ideal candidate must be proficient in media writing, Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress or comparable CMS, and Microsoft Office Suite. Proficiency in Apple/Mac OS system. Preference will be given to candidate with nonprofit and/or retail marketing experience.
*The wage range for this position is $45,000 - $50,000.
Must have a valid Driver's License.
Job Competencies:
Works with Director of Marketing and Communications to develop marketing initiatives to support short term and long term organizational goals. Uses traditional marketing principals through varied media with ability to evaluate effectiveness of campaigns. Works with creative and ad agencies to implement marketing campaigns for multiple programs and target audiences through varied channels. Tracks current marketing trends and determine usefulness for Goodwill. Helps develop and maintain websites, creates landing pages/updates as needed and reports on web analytics. Distributes information by creating flyers, information sheets, graphics, advertisements, etc. Designs and produces printed, digital and all other materials used for marketing purposes. Procure content for various publications through photos, interviews, and reporting.
Essential Functions:
+ Creates and designs digital and printed, well-organized internal and external communications materials, including newsletters, information sheets, flyers, etc.
+ Procure and create content for various publications through photos, video, interviews, and strong interpersonal relationships.
+ Together with the Communications team, executes ongoing branding campaign to educate the community about all aspects (retail, mission, programs) of the agency.
+ Together with the Communications team, provide innovative and creative ideas to utilize communications tools and content to strengthen employee and community relations.
+ Attends meetings with advertising agencies and media buyer to gather and evaluate analytics for optimization and continuous improvement of organization’s creative communications.
+ Participates/assists in community events as a representative of the organization.
+ Receives marketing requests from and coordinates strategic marketing efforts for all departments, assists in enforcing brand standards, including logo use, providing excellent customer service to internal departments and employees.
+ Oversees the maintenance of the organization’s websites, creates pages/content and updates as needed; analyzes digital analytics.
+ Supports internal employee relations efforts, including events, updating communications tools, etc.
+ Serve as primary marketing contact for retail stores working closely with store management to fill marketing requests, manage the store marketing checklist, update the store radio and digital signs, and assist with other questions or requests.
+ Manages the brand gear website and ensures employees’ orders are placed correctly and received.
Physical Strength:
+ Lift -- push/pull while standing - up to 10 pounds on a daily basis. Sometimes up to 50 pounds. Not every day, but occasionally over 50 pounds.
+ Carry -- push/pull while moving - Occasionally up to 20 pounds.
