Job Description
Job Summary
The Engineering Technician is responsible for providing test lab technician services for internal and external
customers in a capable, organized, timely, and safe manner. Responsibilities include modification of lab test stands
and implemented design changes. Will be responsible for the safe setup, conducting of tests, completion of test
reports and test data sheets. Candidate will assist in the troubleshooting of test setups, products, and systems.
Good communication and coordination skills are required in order to work with multiple customers and schedule
lab equipment efficiently. The individual must possess the knowledge and experience necessary to work with
potentially dangerous equipment in a safe manner in order to ensure no injury to self or others. Applicant will be
able to work with high voltage and high current equipment, along electromechanical equipment, which generate
high force/load conditions.
Essential Job Functions
• Test Equipment: Support Engineering team to design, assemble, troubleshoot and repair of
electromechanical test systems and product designs.
• Technical Assistance: Provide technical support to engineers in various aspects of their projects, including
design, prototyping, testing, and analysis.
• Laboratory Work: Conduct laboratory experiments and tests to gather data and evaluate product design or
performance.
• Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results.
• Data Collection and Analysis: Collect, organize, and analyze data from experiments and tests to identify
trends and patterns.
• Documentation: Prepare technical reports, drawings, and documentation related to engineering projects.
• Prototyping: Assist in the construction and assembly of prototypes and models based on engineering
designs.
• Quality Control: Inspect and test products and equipment to ensure they meet quality standards and
specifications.
• Problem-Solving: Identify, troubleshoot, and create reports from technical issues that arise during projects.
• Actively participate and support the plant's safety program. Report any injury or near miss immediately to
your Group Lead or EHS Manager. Report all unsafe conditions immediately to a Group Lead, Manager or
EHS Manager.
• Daily attendance is a requirement of the job, as is arriving on time. Overtime is expected when customer
demand dictates the need.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work area. Keep all walkways and aisles free of any debris or clutter.
Maintain 5S standards by returning tools to shadow boards. Sweep floor and finishing area as needed.
• Operate a vehicle to and from Mexicali, labs and suppliers.
• Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Required Competencies
Education/Experience
Senior Engineering Technician: 8 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of
education and experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Aptitude for diagnosis, repair, fabrication, and assembly of automated equipment.
• Experience with PLCs, PIDs, and HMI usage and programming.
• Basic understanding of Servo and Resolver Controls.
• Able to troubleshoot, redline build drawings as needed.
• Basic Programming Abilities in Visual Basic, C, and Python is preferred.
• 2D and 3D CAD Modeling experience is preferred.
• Proficient at using a Windows based PC, using email, the internet, and SAP ERP system.
• Ability to communicate well with floor equipment operators, maintenance personnel, engineering and the
Business Unit managers.
• Preferred: Knowledge of CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, NX).
• Experience with data analysis tools (Excel, MATLAB).
• Experience with National Instruments Labview test software applications.
• Familiar with Aerospace DO-160 or MIL-STD-810 test performance is preferred.
• Must have a valid driver's license, a clean driving record, knowledge of traffic laws, and ability to navigate
different routes.
