    The Assistant Director of Events and Marketing is crucial in supporting Georgetown Entrepreneurship's commitment to building a thriving, inclusive entrepreneurial community at Georgetown University and beyond. The Entrepreneurship Program provides students with the tools, experiences, and support they need to launch ventures, drive innovation, and create impact in the world. The Assistant Director is foundational in helping Georgetown Entrepreneurship (GEship) serve the broader Georgetown community, the greater Washington, DC, ecosystem, and the world beyond by supporting student and alumni programming and University partnerships.. The Assistant Director blends event planning, marketing strategy, and student engagement to elevate our programs and expand our reach across campus and the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

     

    The Assistant Director is a critical member of the GEship team. They work closely with the GEship team to develop and execute a marketing and event engagement strategy across all programs at Georgetown’s Main Campus and Capitol Campus (i.e. Leonsis Venture Lab). Drawing on their experience, the Assistant Director develops and oversees a comprehensive portfolio that will result in growth, development, and retention of marketing and event resources for GEship. Duties include but are not limited to:

     

    + Assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring a program's services.

    + Assist in administering program budgets, projects, and overall operations when needed, applying general professional-level knowledge and principals of function to solve problems requiring the identification and analysis of non-routine factors.

    + Use independent judgement and discretion to determine or recommend best course of action.

    + Oversee event planning and execution, as well as operational support.

    + Manage marketing and communications.

    + Oversee community and local business/startup engagement.

     

    Work Interactions

     

    The Assistant Director directly reports to the Director of GEship. Additionally, they work closely with other members of the GEship team, especially colleagues from the Entrepreneurs in Residence and Experts on Call programs, the Georgetown Entrepreneurship Alliance, and the McDonough School of Business marketing and communications team.

     

    This role directly contributes to the University’s mission by being fully collaborative and working across the University and will interact with all members of the GEship team, staff and alumni startups Leonsis Venture Lab. Pivot Fellows, current students, other Georgetown affiliated staff and faculty as needed, and outside employers as needed for the internship program. The Assistant Director represents the McDonough School and the Entrepreneurship Initiative accurately and persuasively in front of both external and internal audiences, including prominent members of the DC business and startup communities, alumni, donors, current and prospective students. The position and overall GEship fit with the overall mission and goals of Georgetown University because the mission is to create a culture of entrepreneurship throughout the Georgetown University community and to ensure that every graduate and undergraduate student has the opportunity to explore and experience what it means to have an entrepreneurial mindset. The mission is synonymous with men and women for others as the entrepreneur is innately a job creator and creator of good for society.

    Requirements and Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s degree

    + 2-3 years of professional experience in event planning, marketing, communications, or program management

    + Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills

    + Experience working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment

    + Demonstrated ability to work with students, faculty, and diverse partners

    + Passion for entrepreneurship, innovation, and higher education

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Social media and marketing (i.e. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok)

    + Website maintenance and design (WordPress a plus)

    + Basic knowledge of Salesforce, AirTable, or other customer relationship management (CRM) solution system

     

    Work Mode Designation

     

    This position has been designated as Hybrid. Please note that work mode designations are regularly reviewed in order to meet the evolving needs of the University.     Pay Range:

    The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

    $44,022.00 - $73,406.80

     

    Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
