This position is in the Indianapolis Device Assembly and Packaging site. The mission of IDAP and Manufacturing at Lilly is to make medicine with safety first and quality always.
Position Brand Description:
Engineer – Process Automation is responsible for establishing and maintaining
the reliable operation and qualified state of 2 packaging lines that they support with a cross-functional technical team. Develop and implement process and automation improvements to achieve business needs. Ensure processes are in-control, capable, and compliant.
Key Objectives/Deliverables:
+ Establish & monitor/trend control systems as tool for verifying and optimizing equipment performance
+ Lead troubleshooting efforts to resolve equipment and operational problems
+ Support maintenance and engineering technician as the next level of technical support escalation
+ Assist in identifying key elements for return to service of control systems after interventions and/or maintenance.
+ Utilize formal problem-solving techniques, including Root Cause Analysis to resolve equipment issues.
+ Seek out, define, and implement control system, production process, and business improvements.
+ Analyze data to identify and understand equipment reliability issues and risk to production goals.
+ Respond to and implement customer requests or regulatory requirements related to equipment.
+ Ensure changes to packaging systems, maintenance and other interventions do not have an adverse impact to the qualified state of the equipment.
+ Define the scope of requalification activities when required due to changes or identified trends in the asset qualification monitoring activities.
+ Lead or participate in qualifying activities (including commissioning activities of new equipment or areas)
+ Conduct formal investigations and implement corrections, corrective actions, and countermeasures arising from CAPAs.
+ Manage and balance multiple initiatives concurrently
Basic Qualifications:
+ Bachelors Degree in Engineering
+ Minimum 1 year experience in manufacturing
Additional Preferences:
+ Previous experience as a process automation engineer or process/manufacturing engineer
+ Pharmaceutical experience.
+ Packaging experience
+ Working knowledge of cGMP practices and procedures
+ Commissioning and Qualification experience or similar Capital Asset Delivery experience
+ Rockwell, Siemens, and/or Elau PLC experience
+ Cognex and/or Systech Vision System experience
+ Fanuc and/or Kuka Robotics experience
+ Applied knowledge of project management tools and processes.
+ Strong problem-solving skills
Other Information:
8 hour days, after-hour on-call support. Company phone provided.
Occasional travel may be required for training, conferences, capital projects, etc.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$64,500 - $167,200
Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
