    DIRECTOR OF REHABILITATION** **| Youngstown + Lorain, OH

     

    Reports to** **:** **Market Chief Operating Officer

     

    Based out of St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital

     

    Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

     

    The Director of Rehabilitation, leads the rehabilitation services department, which may include (but not limited to) Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Pathology, Athletic Training, and Audiology They plan, develop, and implement rehabilitation services that meet community needs, and supervise personnel and department activities to ensure quality rehabilitation care. The Director of Rehabilitation will be responsible for the successful completion of significant and specific annually determined results and goals.

    Essential Job Functions

    + _​_ Directs departments to ensure adherence with the accreditation of the Joint Commission (TJC) or other accrediting agencies. Establishes and maintains goals, policies, and procedures for the Rehabilitation Departments; works in consultation with regional administrators to develop progressive services in all sub-departments involved.

    + Works to enhance the quality of care using continuous performance improvement techniques and effective team concepts. Develops measures for quality and appropriateness of care for rehabilitation for appropriate age of patients served.

    + Determines and recommends the number of staff members needed to provide high-quality, economic service and ensures that staff members are qualified and competent. Manages workload and staff hours to meet patient and facility needs. Available for consultation with medical, nursing, and administrative staff to coordinate patient care.

    + Consults with the Rehabilitation Team, Committees, physicians, nursing administration, and the directors of all ancillary departments regarding delivery and continuity of patient care. Coordinates the implementation of suggestions from these various sources as necessary. Maintains positive relationships with patients/clients, visitors, volunteers, medical staff, and co-workers in a manner consistent with the organization’s mission and values.

    + Develops, recommends, and administers department operating and capital expense budgets; evaluates new sources of revenue and prepares new program proposals as necessary. Identifies and implements appropriate cost-effective measures on a continuous basis. Recommends the acquisition, use and organization of available resources to ensure the provision of efficient rehabilitation services. Assumes responsibility for meeting stated financial goals.

    + Coordinates and implements the marketing and promotion of all services offered by the Rehabilitation Departments. Coordinates the development and implementation of education, health promotion, and support group services offered. Coordinates the use of these departments as clinical training sites for academic programs.

     

    Licensing/Certification

     

    Active license in state of practice for one of the following areas: Occupational Therapy, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Physical Therapy, Physical Therapy Assistant, Audiology, Speech Language Pathology, Athletic Training (preferred)

     

    BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire, required within 30 days for BSMH)

    Education

    Bachelor's degree (required)

     

    Master's degree in Healthcare or Business Administration (preferred)

     

    Doctorate degree (preferred)

    Work Experience

    Seven years clinical experience in field of licensure (preferred)

     

    Five years of leadership/management experience (preferred)

    + Demonstrates general computer skills including data entry, word processing, email, and records management.

    + Demonstrates critical thinking skills.

    + Effective organizational and time management skills.

    + Effective written and verbal communication skills.

    + Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and complete complex tasks.

    + Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection prevention standards.

    + Ability to work independently.

    + Ability to maintain proper levels of confidentiality.
