Job Title: Downstream Processing TechnicianJob Description
The candidate will support the performance of operations in the manufacture of Commercial and Clinical Biologics. They will follow Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) and carry out a variety of functions related to Downstream (purification and filtration/HPLC). These functions may include activities such as propagation of mammalian cell culture, conducting aseptic cell culture operations, execution of large-scale production bioreactors (50L - 2000L), and conducting large scale filtration or centrifugation. Purification will be handled through large scale chromatography (column and HPLC).
Responsibilities
+ Review all area documents.
+ Assist in the manufacture of controls and calibrators and complete batch records following cGMPs.
+ Perform in-process assays using equipment such as spectrophotometers, pH meters, and clinical analyzers.
+ Weigh, transfer, and mix chemicals as required.
+ Perform product filtrations.
+ Clean and steam steel tanks (CIP/SIP).
+ Prepare glassware and steel tanks for sterilization in autoclave and operate autoclave.
+ Maintain lab equipment including pumps, pH meters, and flow meters.
+ Keep department lead or manager updated on all issues.
+ Monitor stocks of common lab supplies.
+ Perform other job duties as required.
+ Respond to emergency notifications.
+ Work flexible hours, including weekends.
Essential Skills
+ Minimum of 2 years of work experience in manufacturing, operation, production, lab setting or related field.
+ Knowledge of cGMP practices, aseptic techniques, or chemical concepts.
+ Experience with cleanroom environments and aseptic techniques.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Preferred: Experience in a cGMP environment and a 4-year STEM degree.
+ Subject Matter Expert on downstream processing steps.
+ Bachelor's Degree in Science with aseptic technique, chemistry, HPLC, Pharmaceutical, Pharmaceutical industry, bioreactor.
Work Environment
Clean room/aseptic suites - Must be willing to gown up. Rotating 12-hour shifts, working 7 days out of a 2-week period. Shifts include 1 DAY Shift: 6:15am-6:45pm and 1 NIGHT Shift: 6:15pm-6:45am. Be willing to wear a full gowning suit which includes: bodysuit, gloves, hair & beard nets, face covers, and safety glasses. Able to meet clean room gowning requirements, including wearing Tyvek, Nitrile, and/or Latex gloves. Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs independently and stand for 80% of the shift.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $31.00/hr.
