Job Title: GIS Technician
Job Description
The GIS Technician is responsible for converting as-built data into GIS while consistently meeting quality and turnaround time metrics. The role involves providing as-built training and quality assurance for GIS mapping contractors, creating maps, drawings, and reports for both internal and external customers, and offering subject matter expertise, training, and rudimentary system support on geospatial issues. The GIS Technician will manage routine GIS tasks, including data management and map creation, ensuring accuracy and efficiency. Collaboration with GIS analysts on complex projects and providing input on GIS tool enhancements is also expected.
Responsibilities
+ Convert as-built data into GIS ensuring quality and turnaround time metrics are consistently met.
+ Provide as-built training and QA for GIS mapping contractors.
+ Create maps, drawings, and reports for internal and external customers.
+ Provide subject matter expertise, training, and rudimentary system support on geospatial issues.
+ Manage routine GIS tasks, including data management and map creation ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
+ Collaborate with GIS analysts on complex projects.
+ Provide input on GIS tool enhancements.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in ArcGIS and GIS mapping software.
+ Experience in digitization and GIS analysis.
+ Knowledge of geospatial data and map building software.
+ Expertise in ArcGIS Online and Esri platforms.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor's Degree in Geography, Environmental Planning/Science, GIS Minor or Certificate, or similar.
+ Knowledge of gas utilities (distribution or transmission).
+ Experience in as-built updating and/or creating maps within ArcMap/ArcGIS, or ArcPro.
+ 2-5 years of relevant experience.
+ Diploma or certificate in GIS or related field preferred.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.63 - $28.85/hr.
