Job Title: General Laborer/Fence Installer

Job Description

As a Fence Installer, you will assist in site preparation by clearing the ground, removing old fences, and marking fence lines. You will be responsible for digging holes and trenches to prepare the site for fence posts and other materials. You will transport fencing materials and equipment to and from the worksite, assemble fence components by joining, raising, and securing segments of the fence. Additionally, you will assist in performing maintenance and repairs to ensure the regular upkeep and fixing of existing fences. Lastly, you will ensure the worksite is clean and free from debris and waste after installation.

Responsibilities

+ Assist in site preparation: Clear the ground, remove old fences, and mark fence lines.

+ Dig holes and trenches: Prepare the site for fence posts and other materials.

+ Transport materials: Move fencing materials and equipment to and from the worksite.

+ Assemble fence components: Help in joining, raising, and securing segments of the fence.

+ Perform maintenance and repairs: Assist in regular upkeep and fixing of existing fences.

+ Clean up: Ensure the worksite is free from debris and waste after installation.

Essential Skills

+ Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools safely.

+ Basic understanding of construction principles.

+ Good teamwork and communication skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience with construction labor.

+ Ability to use a tape measure effectively.

+ Saw operation skills.

+ OSHA 10 certification.

Work Environment

Fence installers work primarily outdoors in residential, commercial, or industrial areas, facing various weather conditions such as extreme heat, cold, rain, and snow. The role involves manual labor, including lifting heavy materials, digging, and standing for long periods. Safety precautions are essential, requiring proper safety gear like gloves, boots, and protective eyewear to prevent injuries. Fence installers often work as part of a team, coordinating with other laborers and supervisors to complete projects efficiently.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Lancaster, New York.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
