Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Microelectronics Packaging Engineer to join our rapidly growing Digital Health team. You will work closely with a dynamic team of electrical, software, and mechanical engineers to conceptualize and commercialize innovative medical devices to meaningfully impact the lives of patients with musculoskeletal disorders. The ideal candidate will have a background in design, simulation, testing, prototyping, and design transfer of custom microelectronic systems and modules. This role requires a balance of creative thinking, analytical design, hands-on prototyping and testing, and systematic product development.

Essential Functions:

• Design, simulate, build, and test highly integrated electrical systems for miniaturized electromechanical medical devices, ensuring adherence to industry standards and performance metrics (e.g. IEC 60601-1, etc.)

• Translate product requirements into design specifications and verification tests

• Design highly integrated modules and systems containing analog, digital, RF and/or mixed signal elements, including schematic capture, layout, modeling, and simulation of key circuit parameters (e.g. power, speed, timing, signal integrity, thermal, reliability, etc.)

• Interface with suppliers to support prototyping, inspection, supply chain, and design transfer

• Develop and implement test procedures, fixtures, and scripts

• Collaborate with a team of electrical, mechanical, and software engineers to integrate system hardware and firmware into market-ready medical device products

• Adhere to project timelines to deliver on-time designs, prototypes, test results, and documentation

• Contribute to the growth of Globus Medical’s dominant intellectual property portfolio

Required Knowledge, Experience, and Skills:

• BS in packaging engineer, electrical engineering, computer engineering, mechanical engineering or equivalent with 3+ years of experience

• Experience with design, prototyping, test, and/or production of packaged dies, systems, or modules

• Experience with modeling & simulation of packaged systems, including thermal and/or EMC

• Familiarity with digital, RF and/or mixed signal device packaging design techniques, including die stacking, 3D-IC, substrate/interposer design, chip attach (epoxy, solder), and chip interconnect (chiplet, flip-chip, wire/ribbon bonding)

• Ability to use CAD tools (e.g. Altium, Solidworks, etc) for packaging layout and 3D design

• Ability to use simulation tools (e.g. CST Studio Suite) to model system performance (e.g. thermal, EMC)

• Proficient with electrical test equipment (e.g. multimeters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers)

• Experience working with suppliers and vendors for prototyping, design transfer, and production

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to work independently and in small teams

• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time

Preferred Knowledge, Experience, and Skills:

• Experience designing for medical device or active implant applications

• Experience designing and testing according to industry safety/EMC standards (e.g. IEC 60601-1, IEC 62368-1, or equivalent)

• Familiarity with mixed-signal IC design (e.g. FPGAs, PSoCs, or ASICs)
