    As the Associate Director of Sales for Banner Plans & Networks, you will lead and inspire a high-performing sales team while managing both internal and external distribution channels. In this strategic role, you’ll set ambitious sales targets, track performance metrics, and ensure budget alignment. You’ll also drive lead generation, craft impactful strategies for the Annual Enrollment Period (AEP), and deliver insightful sales reporting to guide decision-making.

     

    This hybrid role offers a dynamic work environment, including remote work, in-clinic visits, time at the Banner Corporate Center, broker meetings, and participation in community events. While your core hours will align with Arizona business hours, flexibility is essential—some evenings, weekends, and holidays may be required to meet business needs.

    POSITION SUMMARY

    This position is accountable for Banner Medicare Advantage growth for all distribution lines including direct sales, broker sales, agency sales, physician engagement, and call center distribution channels. Accountable for providing sales leadership, channel oversight, strategy, and support across all Medicare plans available for sale including HMO, PPO, DSNP and Part D. Includes assisting with product development including Medicare program bids, audits and government relations. Included, but is not limited to oversight and collaboration with customer service, grievance and appeals, marketing, provider/network support, compliance, project management, and brand strategy and communications. This position is responsible for the development and implementation of standards, systems, policies, and procedures in alignment with organizational strategic initiatives that are focused on sales and financial outcomes.

    CORE FUNCTIONS

    1. Lead a team of Sales Managers, Supervisors and/or professional staff involved in driving sales growth. Hire, develop and motivate employees to achieve objectives including hitting revenue targets, selling the value proposition, training on Medicare products, overcoming sales objections and knowing Medicare landscape.

    2. Call center oversight and management of distribution channel. Assist in developing staffing strategy each year to support the sales forecast including support, sales skills, training, CMS test calls, compliance oversight, call monitoring, and audits. Coordinate with marketing Director to develop marketing strategy, call volume and growth objectives, call center staffing annually to deliver on growth and budget.

    3. Collaborate with operational, financial and service teams to meet objectives using breadth of knowledge of healthcare sales and management expertise. Accountable for sales budget and for large and/or complex projects or programs such as annual kick off events, agency co-op marketing programs, SG&A related to sales, and new contract negotiations. Participates and may lead task forces to plan, implement, and coordinate activities to maximize service quality, effectiveness and efficiency.

    4. Responsible for managing CRM, lead pipeline, local area marketing, physician engagement programs and DSNP leads to support superior close rates and lead distribution to maximize call center, internal sales, and physician engagement opportunities. Manages distribution channel sales for optimal ROI based on Cost Per Sale.

    5. Develop and manage physician engagement team to leverage Banner clinics and other Value Based contracts to meet growth initiatives and distribute leads. Manage sales team to maximize close rates with internal and external sales force.

    6. Work with leadership, finance and corporate compensation to develop the sales forecast and strategy by distribution channel (including goals) annually to support financial objectives for the organization. Develop budget required to support the strategy and deliver on forecast to bid projections. Participate and inform bid process to ensure competitive offering and ability to hit forecasted sales targets. Develop staffing strategy each year to support the sales forecast – including support, sales skills, training, commissions, technology, and broker experience.

    7. FMO distribution relationship manager. Supports the channel to develop annual marketing plans; innovate around how to best support the channel; build relationships to meet growth targets; host related events for agency partnerships. Manage all related downline activities.

    8. Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards. Provides all customers of Banner Health with an excellent service experience by consistently demonstrating our core and leader behaviors each day.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Expert-level working knowledge, skills and abilities as normally obtained through the completion of a bachelor’s degree in finance, business, sales, marketing, healthcare management, organizational leadership or other appropriately related field.

     

    Seven plus years of experience in sales leadership and progressively responsible managerial experience in designated facility, business entity or area, including a minimum of two years management level experience within a major health care organization, health system setting, or large multi-operational corporate environment in complex industries similar to healthcare. Must be able to communicate effectively with others by speaking, reading and writing. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

     

    Must possess or obtain a current health care insurance license within 90 days of hire.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    Systems expertise in Sales Force and Market Prominence preferred.

     

    Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
