Job Description

Serves as a specialist with primary responsibility for the Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Program within the Michigan Intelligence Operations Center (MIOC)/ Intelligence Operations Division (IOD), Michigan State Police which includes; advise the State of Michigan Homeland Security Advisor, Michigan State Police senior leadership, MIOC Director and staff, and public/private sector partners in areas of; impacts and cascading effects of disruptions to the state’s Critical Infrastructure/Key Resources (CIKR) operations as a result of an “All Hazards” event, direct oversight of daily operations of the CIP Program, liaison with private sector, state, local, and federal agencies; monitor and evaluate national and statewide CIP security requirements; and represent the Michigan State Police at the local, state and federal levels. This position serves as the Michigan State Police CIP subject matter expert (SME) and CIP Program Manager with advanced expertise in the field of critical infrastructure protection and public/private sector outreach. Provides assistance to senior industrial security executives and leaders, governmental intelligence and law enforcement agencies, and emergency managers in the state, in identifying, developing, and providing CIP program support regarding Critical Infrastructure/Key Resources (CIKR) protection, suspicious activity reporting, training, and information sharing/coordination at the local, state, regional and national levels.

The Michigan State Police (MSP) is a full-service policing agency with statewide jurisdiction, providing over 60 different services either directly to Michigan residents or in support of other law enforcement agencies. The MSP personnel most visible to the public are the uniform troopers whose primary responsibilities include traffic enforcement, crime prevention and investigation, and community engagement and service.

Required Education and Experience

Education

Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.

Experience

Four years of professional experience, including two years equivalent to the experienced (P11) level or one year equivalent to the advanced (12) level.

Additional Requirements and Information

This position requires passing a pre-employment screening, including passing a drug screen, criminal history background check, and a fingerprint check by the Michigan State Police.

This position also requires the ability to obtain/maintain a secret level clearance.

Special Requirements, Licenses, and Certifications

Equivalent combinations of nonprofessional experience, identified by the appointing authority and approved by Civil Service that are represented by subclass codes, will be accepted for classified, professional experience equivalent to the P11-level and above. The nonprofessional experience must be related to departmental programs and services that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Paid Parental Leave:Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leaveimmediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.

Paid Holidays:Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year’s Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Day.
