Job Description
As a key team member, you will consult, advise, and represent Fannie Mae’s multifamily business. Your work will cover multifamily loan transactions, including both market and affordable transactions, and other high-impact legal matters and projects. You may advise on multifamily or corporate initiatives, product development, credit risk policies, asset management or regulatory concerns, and may act as a subject matter or technical expert on significant business or legal decisions.

In this position you will:
* Provide legal advice combining skill and knowledge in multifamily and commercial mortgage finance, real estate law, and corporate law with sound business acumen and judgment of business goals and objectives of the company or assigned business units.
* Employ business and legal judgment to balance the specific business needs with an appropriate level of risk.
* Evaluate and draft legal and regulatory analyses.
* Negotiate and draft loan agreements, disclosures and other legal documents.
* Counsel business clients related to important issues and initiatives.
* Provide excellent client service.
* Supervise and actively direct outside counsel.
* Collaborate on significant company issues.
Qualifications
*THE EXPERIENCE YOU BRING TO THE TEAM*
*Minimum Required Experiences:*
* Juris Doctorate
* 8 years relevant experience
* Experience negotiating and closing complex finance transactions, including multifamily affordable housing finance
* Agency finance and/or other commercial, leasing, finance or corporate transaction experience
* Experience with complex borrower structures and lending issues such as non-recourse carveouts, title insurance, mezzanine loans and market standards
* Experience working independently and flexibly in a fast-paced environment
* Strong communication and relationship building skills
* Experience adapting, learning and applying existing skills in new professional contexts or areas of law
*Desired Experiences:*
* Experience advising a regulated entity
* Experience working in a collaborative legal or business environment
* Experience engaging and managing outside counsel
* Experience promoting continuous improvement of legal processes to support business transactions
* Legal analysis, effective communication, advocacy and drafting
* Ability to quickly understand business needs and partner with the business and other stakeholders to create solutions and effectively deliver team results
* Interpersonal and influencing skills including negotiating, persuading others, facilitating meetings and resolving conflict
* Ability to work with people with different functional expertise and at all levels, respectfully and cooperatively toward a common goal
* Ability to identify strategic options and resources to meet defined objectives
* Adept at time management and project management
