    As a Principal Scientist, Scientific & Regulatory International Affairs (SRIA) Americas in Regulatory Affairs Team you will Lead and pilot major regulatory changes’ strategies from a scientific & regulatory standpoint for US and Americas and at international level. This includes shaping the regulatory environment to ensure our license to innovate and license to operate through strengthening the impact of global strategies within local professional associations. This role requires close collaboration with all stakeholders including but not limited to Worldwide Regulatory & Claims (WRC), Worldwide Safety Evaluation (WSE), L’Oréal Sustainability, Formulating Labs, Corporate Affairs & Engagement/Public Affairs (CA&E/PA) organizations.

     

    A Day in the Life:

    USA and Americas activities:

    + Reinforce and raise the bar in the key SRIA strategic priorities for the Americas setting up priorities, actionable roadmap and dashboard of scientific and regulatory issues.

    + Strengthen SRIA's regulatory positions through regional and global collaboration, and alignment.

    + Proactively shape future regulatory strategies by monitoring early indicators, aligning with business objectives, and anticipating regulatory developments related to Beauty products.

    + Coordinate and lead local and regional forums to foster regulatory discussions.

    + Identify and engage with relevant scientific and regulatory trade associations groups and key stakeholders to strengthen our external network and shape the regulatory landscape.

    + Partner with Public Affairs to align on priorities and develop a strategic roadmap to address scientific and regulatory challenges and opportunities.

    + Implement robust governance to strengthen ingredient defense strategies.

    + Leverage and oversee the implementation of SRIA tools (e.g., heatmap, Strat 4 Gain) to drive strategic initiatives.

    International activities:

    + Collaborate with trade associations’ international regulatory groups (e.g., PCPC) to enhance awareness, ensure alignment, and activate international initiatives in response to regulatory changes or threats outside the U.S.

    + Foster collaboration with the global SRIA and SRCM team to ensure alignment and integration of strategies.

    + Build strategic partnership with the academic world, peers in the industry, key scientific and regulatory opinion leaders and key technical authorities’ and associations’ members as appropriate, to contribute to shape the regulatory environment and technical standards to secure our license to Innovate and operate

    + Maintain high level engagement in international internal regulatory committees (e.g., Shape Committee) to drive strategic shifts in ICCR and IAC technical dynamics (standards, guidelines…), while fostering collaboration with China.

    + Strong participation and focus on international committees across additional countries in the Americas region.

    We Are Looking For:

    + Education: A completed Masters/PhD in science or engineering is required.

    + Experience: 10+ years of progressive regulatory experience is required. Experience in the cosmetic/personal care industry preferred

    + Experience in working and collaborating with high performing cross-functional and multi-cultural teams. Strong intercultural experience.

    + Ability to develop a strategic vision with excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.

    + Ability to analyze and summarize information and topics for key business target audiences, understanding business impact of proposed legislation and regulations in those countries.

    + Aptitude for cross-disciplinary and network operations.

    + Proven track record with a strong results orientation, positive “hands on” attitude and a sense of urgency to get things done with demonstrated grace and even temperament under pressure.

    + Full proficiency in English is required, with additional language skills (e.g., French, Spanish, or Portuguese) being a plus.

    + The ability to be onsite, in the office as this is an essential function of the position (required)

    + Authorization to work in the United States on a full-time, permanent, ongoing basis without the need for legal sponsorship now or in the future (required)
