    **UW Medical Center - Montlake** has an outstanding opportunity for a Nursing Professional Development Specialist (NPDS), CLINICAL NURSE EDUCATOR to join our Nursing Staff Development Team.

     

    The Nursing Professional Development Specialist (NPDS)) for Workplace Violence (WPV) Prevention leads the development, delivery, and evaluation of training programs aimed at preventing and mitigating workplace violence in the healthcare setting. This role leverages an evidence-based, trauma-informed national WPV prevention curriculum to promote staff safety and relationship-based care across all care settings.

    SCHEDULE

    Day Shift

    40 hours per week

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    + Education and TrainingDesign, implement, and facilitate education on workplace violence prevention using an evidence-based, trauma-informed national WPV prevention curriculum. Coordinate a team of instructors to provide ongoing training to nurses and inter-professional staff on de-escalation, behavioral crisis response, and safe intervention techniques.

    + Program Development, Support and EvaluationCollaborate with Public Safety, the Behavioral Health Intervention Specialists (BHISs), CNSs and CNEs, and employee health teams to align education with organizational violence prevention strategies. Communicate with vendor of WPV prevention program to ensure compliance with standards and organize regular cadence of instructor training

    + Support and ConsultationAct as an education resource to support WPV prevention via collaboration with BHISs, Nurse/Department Managers, staff, and other members of the health care team. Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for managing escalating patient behaviors. **REQUIREMENTS**

    + Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Washington

    + Master’s Degree in Nursing
