• AdventHealth Tampa, a faith-based not-for-profit 626-bed tertiary-level acute care hospital located in the uptown district of Tampa, Florida, specializes in advanced cardiovascular medicine, neuroscience and neurology, digestive health, orthopedics, women’s services, pediatrics, oncology, endocrinology, bariatrics, wound healing, sleep medicine and general surgery including minimally invasive and robot-assisted procedures. GME programs on the hospital campus currently include general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, internal medicine and transitional year.

The role** **you’ll** **contribute:
Prepares and maintains the surgical area, scrubs and is first assistant to the physician during procedures, assists the RN in technical functions related to patient care in the OR and assists in the training of others and functions as a resource within the department.
**The value** **you’ll** **bring to the team** :
1.Positioning the patient:
•The surgeon shall convey the exact position that will give the best exposure for the surgical procedure. The surgical assistant will carry out this order. Consideration will be given to the patient’s comfort and safety.
•Points of pressure shall be padded: elbows, heels, knees, eyes, face, and axillary region.
2. Providing visualization of the operative site by the following:
•Appropriate placement and securing of retractors with or without padding
•Packing with sponges
•Digital manipulation of tissue
•Suctioning, irrigating, or sponging
