    The Large Power Systems Division in Griffin, GA has an opening for an Occupational Health Nurse. The Occupational Health Nurse is an advanced nurse generalist. This position is the lead nurse responsible for the clinic administration and delivery of occupational nursing practices within the large stand-alone facility Medical clinics. The nurse position confronts greater work volume and requires a greater level of autonomy and operational accountability than other clinic nursing positions.

     

    This position serves as a highly skilled, autonomous occupational health nurse within the Griffin Medical Department. Incumbents typically have previous general healthcare, acute care, or occupational health experience. Ideal candidates will have demonstrated career progression through successively more advanced and complex administrative and clinical positions. While not required, due to the autonomy and accountability of the nurse position, incumbents will typically have significant experience in occupational health nursing, program management and supervision. Activities of the nurse may include some or all of the following:

    Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

    + Record health details of employees’ vital signs such as height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, etc.

    + Treat work related injuries per policy and procedure

    + Manage worker’s compensation claims

    + Help employees prepare for medical examinations and take samples from patients.

    + Observe patients, charting and reporting changes in patients’ conditions, and taking any necessary action.

    + Collect samples such as blood, urine, etc. and perform routine laboratory tests on samples.

    + Give direct employee care and individual employee needs as directed by the patient care plan to diagnose and treat human injuries and diseases.

    Clinical Nursing

    + The delivery of comprehensive nursing services related to employee illness and injury, fitness-for-duty evaluation, and return to work screening

    + Functions as an autonomous nurse with the ability to respond independently to most clinical and administrative demands. Seeks consultation and expert support when needed

    + Acts as the local liaison with contracted health providers, including occupational health providers and providers for the health promotion examinations

    + Responds to and even leads on-site medical emergency response.

    + Participates on the facility Emergency Response Team (ERT) and is involved or leadership in the crafting of facility Emergency Response Plans (ERP).

    + Assumes responsibility for clinical administration, including the delegation of some basic duties to other clinic staff. Activities may include but are not limited to maintaining clinic order, delivering new employee orientation presentations, and maintaining metrics, measurements and documentation for corporate Medical functions via paper records and/or the electronic medical record system and may serve as a resource for medical direction and support to other clinic nurses.

    + When needed, adapts Corporate Medical policies and procedures to fit the needs of the local facility

    + Acts the liaison between local facility and the Corporate Medical Department to ensure medical services meet the expectations of the facility leadership and the employees:

    + Supports Disability Case Management activities

    + Management of Workers Compensation claims

    + Supports medical staff and outside entities in determining the work-relatedness of injuries, complying with governmental regulations, and conducting investigations

    + Supports local safety team with injury investigations and facility safety walks

    + Supports the delivery of wellness communication and on-site wellness programming

    + Engages in a supportive role in special projects and program delivery

    + Conducts DOT drug testing and fit-for-duty evaluations

    + Conducts OSHA mandated and other surveillance exams

    + Seeks ways to innovate, improve and create best-in-class occupational medical practices.

    Basic Qualifications:

    + Licensed in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse

    + College degree in Nursing

    + Understanding of the Nurse Practice Act and legal consequences of nursing action

    + Experience and knowledge in the various areas of occupational healthcare delivery

    + Ability to work independently

    + Excellent Verbal and Written Communication skills

    + Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.

    + Must be able to learn and manipulate various on-line databases, such as but not limited to Cority.

    Top Candidates will also have:

    + Previous experience in Occupational Health Nursing

    + Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing

    + Certifications in occupational health related fields

    + Experience with electronic medical records systems

    Additional Information:

    + Location of this position is in Griffin, GA

    + This position may require less than 10% travel.

    + Current work hours are 10 hours/4 days per week (Monday--Thursday)

    + Major US Holidays will be recognized in this role.

    Summary Pay Range:

    $87,480.00 - $131,280.00

     

    Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
