Position Summary:
Thermal Engineering International (USA) Inc. designs and fabricates high quality Pressure Vessels and Heat Transfer Equipment for the power generation and process industries worldwide. The Buyer is responsible for the procurement of materials, equipment and services. This position will issue requests for quotation, evaluate supplier bids, negotiate final price and terms & conditions and issue purchase orders to suppliers for assigned commodities with the overall objective of delivering all goods and services at or below budget, meeting quality and schedule requirements. Included is analysis of current market price levels and delivery trends for assigned commodities. In addition, the Buyer will also evaluate overall performance of existing Suppliers and develop new qualified, competitive suppliers.
Essential Responsibilities:
• Formulate a procurement strategy for assigned commodities in support of project material, equipment and service purchases, taking into consideration cost, quality and schedule requirements.
• Interface with the project team to develop and issue requests for quotation.
• Support the Proposal/Estimating teams with current market pricing through obtaining quotes, using recent historical pricing and/or developing cost standards for assigned commodities.
• Negotiate long term supply agreements for selective commodities with the objective of ensuring delivery and volume price discounts.
• Expedite suppliers and manage recovery plans when suppliers fall behind schedule.
• Responsible for negotiating and timely processing of supplier back charges and performance, schedule and warranty issues.
• Travel to suppliers, customers and sister companies, as required.
Job Requirements / Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
• Bachelor's Degree in Business is preferred
• Minimum of 1- 3 years is preferred.
• Experience in a project environment is preferred with knowledge of ASME, HEI, Boiler and Environmental products.
• Engineering experience is a plus.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and oral.
• Flexibility in schedule, initiative, willingness to learn, maintain effective and professional interaction between Company and Supplier.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize the deadlines.
• Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), Certified Purchasing Professional (C.P.P). Certified Professional Purchasing Manager (C.P.P.M) or equivalent certifications in the Purchasing field are a plus.
• Competent in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Projects, as well as ability to learn new software specific to our Company.
