    **_Kelly Engineering_** _is seeking a_ **_Lab Assistant_** _for a long-term contract at one of our Global Medical Device clients located in_ **_Irvine, CA_** _._

     

    _Our Client is a global leader in the science of diagnosing and treating heart rhythm disorders. The company partners with clinicians to develop innovative technologies that improve the quality of care for arrhythmia patients worldwide._

    _Lab Assistant for an R&D Combined Lab_

    _The individual will be responsible for_ **_supporting a multi-systems lab at a medical device company._**

    _Qualifications:_

    + _AS degree in a science field, Biomedical preferred, BS preferred, HS diploma required_

    + _Excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills_

    + _Medical device industry a plus_

    + _Analytical, report driven, very well organized and quality driven_

    + _Lab experience_

    + _Excellent team player, gets along well with everyone, easy going with a friendly attitude_

     

    _Lab Assistant for an R&D Combined Lab_

     

    _Multi-Systems Lab ,Tissue lab, Systems Integration Lab, Instron Lab, R&D Supplies Rm, Bio-simulator Lab, R&D Storage_

    _Manage Lab Space_

    + _Assist planning, coordinating, and direct lab activities_

    + _Manage floor, side labs, and common test/equipment areas._

    + _Maintain laboratory general maintenance and upkeep of facility._

    + _Evaluate project team areas and requirements per request._

    + _Facilitate lab and workspace organization._

    + _Provide support /resolves to Project teams and cross-functional teams for space needs/testing, as necessary_

    + _Oversee testing setups within the lab (non-V&V only)_

    + _Partner and collaborate with EHS (Environment Health and Safety) for materials, equipment, and movement within space._

    _Equipment management_

    + _Lab Equipment maintenance. Meet and collaborate with CRM (Calibration, Repair & Maintenance) personnel_

    + _Communications and interactions with a calibration service provider._

    + _Maintain a Combined Lab Equipment Master list, includes:_

    + _Project team equipment._

    + _General lab equipment._

    + _Control of loaner equipment_

    _NCs (non-conformity)_

    + _NC delegation and support for lab._

    + _ETQ training._

    + _Guidance with forms (Calibrations, Late Cal, Relocate, Inactivate/Reactivate, Preventive Maintenance, etc.)._

    + _Equipment improvements for common lab use._

    + **_Communicate with suppliers_** _._

    + _Follow up and resolve any challenges with procured equipment/machine if any._

    + _Coordinate, plan, and direct resources to move and install equipment/machine._

    + _Look for strategic changes/needs for new capabilities/equipment (Need to move to newer technologies with R&D to transition longer term to manufacturing)_

    _General lab improvement_

    + _Posted signage, promoting 6S organization, and exercising risk management._

    + **_Continuous improvements of spaces, utilities, repairs, etc._**

    _3D printer Management (Manager oversee)_

    + _Teams – BWI R&D Prototype Lab: 3D Print Channel with Excel spreadsheet. tracker (Date, Username, Email, Project, Resin type and Volume, Duration)._

    + _Restock 99% IPA (Isopropyl Alcohol) as needed._

    + _Hold users accountable to maintain area cleanliness, and maintain resin in stock, consumables readily available by completing tracker._

    _Facilities request_

    + _Submit facilities request as needed_

    + _Track/ Follow up on facilities requests for_

    + _Repairs and installations_

    + _IT (Information Technology) tickets/requests (IRIS) if needed._

    _Lab safety walkthroughs_

    + _Perform weekly_

    + _Align with EHS procedures._

    + _Perform and submit EHS Lab inspections_

     

    _Tracked by EHS – Quarterly._

     

    + _Support On-site Audits_

    + _Maintain organized and compliant._

    + _Proper labeling of devices/ components._

    _Chemical Inventory Management_

    + _Provide support with EHS new chemical approval forms._

    + _Only store chemicals that are approved and listed on 3E for the lab._

    + _Proper labeling of all chemicals and secondary containers/vessels with liquids, solids, etc., all need to be identifiable._

    + _HMIS labels with chemical expiration date._

    + _Replace non legible labels._

    + _Inventory of general IPA, flux, resins, etc., to maintain stock and availability._

    + _All chemicals/biohazard/e-waste to be disposed of by Viola (Hazardous waste service)._

    _Lab Supplies Management_

    + _Inventory control of common lab supplies from stockroom (PPE, chemicals, soaps, wipes, general lab consumables)._

    + _Procure additional supplies via McMaster-Carr, PAC, etc._

    + _Schedule DI water tank service (Monthly)._

    _Systems and Metrology Room_

    + _Instron Machines_

    + _Manage Instron calendar and assist engineers with test setups._

    + _Control of tools, accessories, and load cells required for testing._

    + _Repairs/Replacements- assessment, schedule and/or send out for repair or replacement (request quote, PO creation)._

    + _Manage and schedule any repairs._

    + _Coordinate/Schedule any necessary training, refresher for unaccustomed users/engineers._

    _Lab PU Pick Up Scheduling/Storage_

    + _Assign project teams for weekly pickups._

    + _Manage monthly schedule._

    + _Restock required consumable components i.e., 3cc barrels, plunger, needles._

    _Storage Management_

    + _Quarterly Lab Governance EHS Meetings._

    + _Quarterly meetings with CRM or as needed, with engineers, techs_

    + _Communications/lab observations with all lab personnel/engineers and managers as needed_
