    Position Overview** **:

    Crestliner’s Product Manager plays an integral role in the product development process by maintaining Crestliner’s product portfolio strategic plan and overseeing the execution of all product development programs (e.g. product redesigns, new model introductions, and general enhancements across the lineup). This position reports directly to Crestliner’s General Manager and plays a critical role on Crestliner’s Senior Management Team across all brand efforts and activities. The Product Manager will actively gather, manage, and analyze consumer insights in order to maintain and improve a portfolio of product that is coveted by our consumers, drives market share gains, and improves our cost position and corresponding gross margins.

     

    This position of Product Manager is an ideal opportunity for an applicant who has 10 to 15 years of experience, holds an MBA or other advanced degree or is a current MBA candidate, and is anxious to play a leadership role in a highly visible position. A successful candidate must excel in a team environment, have strong program management skills, demonstrate an upbeat attitude, willingness to listen and be vocal, provide sound business reasoning, strong communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to work effectively and professionally with all levels of the organization.

    Roles and Responsibilities:

    + Customer Advocacy – Maintain focus on needs of the market with a keen awareness of customer needs. Appreciate inputs from external stakeholders (suppliers, dealers, customers, etc.) to understand market requirements. Develop informal market knowledge by meeting with customers, dealers and directly observing lifestyles, consumption patterns, preferences, etc., of customers. Interpret and understand primary and secondary market research to forecast current and future customer needs and wants. Advocate for the customer to the business.

    + Team Leadership – Build, lead, and motivate a cross-matrix team of diverse, multi-functional specialists to successfully build a product that exceeds market requirements. Foster a cohesive team environment. Capture imagination, commitment and energy of team to foster a high performing team capable of making key trade-off decisions regarding the total program. Build relationships with customers, dealers, and organizational teams to maintain effective lines of communication with key groups, including internal customers within our matrix organization. Bridge the gaps between divisions to most effectively carry out cross-functional assignments and projects.

    + Business Requirements – Responsible for product charter development by synthesizing findings from consumer research efforts to communicate product objectives / functional requirements /program scope to the team.

    + Establish program performance goals and metrics and incorporate into product charter (Gate One of Crestliner’s five phase/gate product development process). Oversee and lead the development of products through completion of all 5 gates of product development process. Specify how the program will fulfill the charter requirements and guide the project through completion. Develop market pricing, volume estimates, design requirements, and key “must have” features in order to develop product that wins in the marketplace. Manage key trade-off decisions about the total product program, including the balance between quality, cost, innovation, and timing constraints.

    + Oversee the product design phases to identify new innovative designs/solutions and provide brand direction for developing boats that meet or exceed customer requirements (cost, performance, quality, innovation, reliability, manufacturability, appearance/style, durability, etc.).

    + Perform tasks as needed to ensure the team completes programs in scope and on time.

    + Marketing / Product Benefit Communication – Develop key selling points of each new product launch, including a summary of key consumer needs and innovations in product aimed at addressing them.

    + Product Resource – Conduct product training for customers, dealers, sales, and internal organizational teams in order to communicate key selling points. As needed, provide technical support to Customer Service, Dealers, Sales, and Marketing.

     

    Diversity of thought and experiences is fundamental when imagining the unimaginable. Certain skillsets/experiences are necessary; however, others can be developed along the way.

    Required and Preferred Qualifications:

    + Fishing and/or boating experience preferred, knowledge of the brand’s product a plus.

    + This position requires a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent work experience), MBA preferred, with prior experience in marine industry, product design, consumer research, market intelligence, sales/marketing, engineering, and other related fields a plus.

    + Product and process design experience with aluminum sheet metal preferred.

    + Must be well-organized, self-motivated, assertive, tenacious by nature, and flexible; capable of working both independently and as part of a team; willing to accept new responsibilities and grow within the role as required.

    + Resolves issues effectively and quickly through established channels; demonstrated interpersonal skills with an ability to “connect” with others over the phone and email in addition to doing so in person; excellent written and verbal communication skills required.

    + Outstanding analytical and statistical technical skills with ability to present key findings to all levels of management.

    + Ability to handle multiple tasks at the same time with ease by employing strong organizational skills.

    + Proficiency in PC-based software including PowerPoint, Excel, Lotus Notes, Word, OBMS, and Compass.

    + Ability to travel approximately 25%, with overnight stays, as business needs require; must be willing to work more than 40 hours a week periodically to complete the job.

    + This position is a full-time, salaried opportunity residing in Crestliner’s New York Mills Brand Headquarters location.

    + This position will require travel to our Lebanon Facility (one week per quarter on average), attend and assist dealers at boat shows and travel sporadically throughout the year to dealer events, consumer focus group events, and other events as needed.

     

    The anticipated pay range for this position is $82,600.00-133,000.00 annually. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.

     

    At Brunswick, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the salary range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate’s qualifications and the business context.
