    Job Summary

    This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Research Analyst 2: Hydrogeology and Survey Data Analyst position for the College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences at Oregon State University ( OSU ). This is a limited duration appointment expected to last approximately 4 months from the appointment begin date.

     

    This is a short-term position to support the analysis of science community needs surrounding airborne geophysical and water data.

    Key Responsibilities

    50% Coding and analyzing data

     

    30% Graphing and reporting out on data in both written and oral formats

     

    10% Participating in meetings about the topic; engaging respectfully and professionally with research collaborators.

     

    10% Data management

    What We Require

    College level courses in statistics (at least six quarter hours); research methods and techniques (e.g., research design, sampling, surveying, etc.); and computer software application or packages (e.g., Statistical Analyses System, Lotus 1-2-3, etc.); OR Three years of experience assisting with the gathering, compiling, analyzing, and reporting of research information and statistical data plus assisting with the drafting of this information into narrative or statistical reports; OR An equivalent combination of training and experience. Transcripts must be submitted for all required and/or related courses.

    What You Will Need

    + Proficiency in coding python

    + Experience with hydrogeologic models

    + A basic foundation of knowledge and skills in data analysis

    + Demonstrated ability to work productively and cooperatively with research collaborators and contribute to a respectful, professional work environment.

    What We Would Like You to Have

    + Undergraduate degree in geology or related fields

    + Proficiency in coding JAVA , C++, HTML

    + Experience working in on hydrogeologic research

    + Demonstrated experience in database management

    + Strong communication and organizational skills, including the ability to produce detailed technical and process documentation.

    + Proven ability to identify issues, propose solutions, and implement them with high accountability.

     

    Working Conditions / Work Schedule

     

    Typically, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with occasional work on weekends or evenings to provide for data analysis and model testing.

     

    Pay Method Hourly

     

    Pay Period 16th - 15th of the following month

     

    Pay Date Last working day of the month

     

    Min Salary $21.42

     

    Max Salary $32.55
