This opportunity is part of the Hartford’s Personal Insurance Reserving team, with a focus on Homeowners, providing actuarial guidance and support. This position will be focused on supporting our monthly Reserving processes for Homeowners and will work in a fast-paced environment with actuaries and a data engineer to create efficiencies and deliver insights.
This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys owning processes from start to finish, is interested in being a subject matter expert and who likes working in a fast-paced environment.Responsibilities:
As a critical member of the Reserving team, you will be involved in a broad array of areas. Examples of areas of responsibility include:
+ Be the subject matter expert for our Earned Homeowners Loss Cost report, which includes having a robust understanding of how the report works, including data sources and the underlying calculations, finding and implementing process improvements and running the report
+ Own monthly updates of and support the maintenance of various Homeowners diagnostics applications and reports, some of which are housed in R
+ Create, and perform peer-review on, monthly monitoring materials that are distributed to the highest levels of leadership within The Hartford
+ Participate in the quarterly reserve analysis for Homeowners Loss
+ Perform a quarterly reserve analysis for Homeowners ALAE.
+ Provide support and performance testing for the migration of our earned homeowners loss cost report to a new cloud-based data source.
+ Provide review and testing support for the Homeowners section of our annual Actuarial Report.
+ Perform ad hoc requests and analysis, as needed.
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s Degree required; candidates with academic backgrounds in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Data Science or other quantitative fields preferred.
+ Strong analytical skills, including proficiency in Excel
+ Database experience with R or other similar programming language preferred.
+ Experience in reserving P&C personal insurance a plus
+ Experience owning processes from start to finish, collaborating with actuaries and non-actuaries to achieve intended results.
+ Effective written and verbal communication and general business management skills are imperative.
+ Intellectual curiosity and a strong desire to further one’s knowledge of, and apply future efficiencies to, the current processes.
***This position can be filled at either level depending on experience
Salary $73, 840 - $132,240
This role will have a Hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$73, 840 - $132,240
The posted salary range reflects our ability to hire at different position titles and levels depending on background and experience.
