Job Description:
The CE Technician II is a position within Intermountain Health’s Healthcare Technology Management department. The CE Technician II is responsible for maintaining assigned clinical equipment and systems through the effective use of the Medical Equipment Management Plan. Performs a variety of tasks associated with the installation, maintenance, calibration, and repair of a broad scope of clinical equipment and systems with minimal supervision. The CE Technician II may serve in a variety of job-specific roles and clinical environments, including but not limited to: Hospitals & Clinics, Surgical Centers, Home Healthcare, Dialysis Centers, Central Processing Departments, Clinical Laboratory, Information Technology or the Repair Depot Service Center.

Clinical Engineering Tech Job Description:
Equipment Expertise
+ Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of clinical equipment relevant to the assigned role within the caregiver clinical environment
+ Performs preventive maintenance (PM) procedures on assigned clinical equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications or an established Intermountain HTM alternative maintenance (AEM) program
+ May develop AEM PM protocols
+ Demonstrates proficiency in troubleshooting and repair techniques when performing corrective maintenance
+ Encouraged to share troubleshooting and repair tips and techniques with the HTM team
+ Maintains adequate inventory of commonly used parts and supplies

+ Demonstrates timely and accurate documentation of service performed on clinical equipment using the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
+ Demonstrates competency in accessing clinical equipment service history using the CMMS
+ Demonstrates proficiency in accessing and referencing Intermountain Healthcare’s clinical equipment user and service manual library
+ Encouraged to share knowledge of the CMMS with peers
Policy and Procedure
+ Has a working understanding of local and national public safety and regulatory requirements
+ Demonstrates proficiency in locating and referencing policies and procedures relevant to work scope through Intermountain Healthcare’s Policy Library portal
Effective Communication and Rounding
+ Accountable for clear and effective written and oral communication with department leadership as well as caregivers encountered while performing job duties
+ Accountable to report issues and concerns to department leadership
+ Able to solve front-line customer service issues
+ Accountable for regular rounding with assigned departments to promote a HTM presence and to meet with front-line caregivers for the purpose of identifying service opportunities
+ Able to provide ongoing education to clinical caregivers on proper use of medical devices.

Minimum Qualifications
+ Demonstrated experience and proficiency working with Medical Equipment or maintaining / repairing equipment.
+ Demonstrated proficiency to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
+ Demonstrated ability to follow protocols and processes relating to equipment maintenance.
+ Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of preventative maintenance processes and schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Associate of Applied Science Degree. Degree must be obtained through an accredited Institution. With at least 2 years of experience. Education will be verified.
+ Certificate acquired through the completion of a relative health technology course. With at least 2 years of experience.
+ Five years of experience relative to the caregiver clinical environment role.

Imaging Tech Job Description:
+ Competent to service all levels of imaging equipment up to CT, MR, Linac,Cath Lab, or Mammo. Works independently to troubleshoot, repair, provide end-user education, and manage new installs or equipment upgrades.
+ Mentors and trains Level I and level II technicians. Assists Manager of Clinical Engineering in budgeting for department training, education, and test equipment needs. Works closely with the Radiology department leadership to select the best option for new equipment purchase and organizes a service plan for that equipment.
+ Performs safety testing, performance testing, and preventive maintenance to meet NFPA, OSHA, and The Joint Commission compliance, primarily on radiology equipment in assigned departments at the scheduled time intervals. Documents all repairs completed while performing maintenance inspections as well as the inspections on all SCL Health electronic medical equipment.
+ Performs electronic repairs, according to manufacturers specifications, on basic radiology equipment.
+ Replaces defective components according to accepted practice to ensure minimal damage to components and printed circuit boards. Performs operational checkout and safety testing of all repaired equipment. Completes documentation which includes all necessary parts, including part numbers, quantity, price, time, procedures, and equipment used to accomplish each service request.
+ Responds immediately to emergency repairs, including after hours and weekends. Responsible for personal and professional development, including vendor training. Communicates the nature of repair to the department supervisor as well as an estimate of the possible down-time. Informs personnel as to equipment status after completion of repairs. Upon completion of formal manufacture or third party service training shares knowledge and documentation with the Imaging staff in order to expand and strengthen service coverage.
+ Works closely with the Medical Physics department to ensure all radiology equipment meets state and federal guidelines for radiation producing equipment and repairs equipment that does not pass annual testing within the time requirements defined by the Medical Physics department. Manages complex projects which consist of coordinating and planning large system installations, following up on equipment recalls, and interacting with Providers and other clinical staff to lessen operator error and reduce equipment malfunction.
+ Promotes mission, vision, and values of SCL Health, and abides by service behavior standards.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
+ May be required to float to other departments (within scope of competency and qualifications) based on business need.
+ May be required to be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift.
Minimum Qualifications
Required
+ Completion of a two year approved Biomedical Training Program with an emphasis in radiology or equivalent factory training and experience
+ Documented completion of factory training on a variety of basic and complex pieces of imaging equipment
+ Minimum of three years of medical equipment service including demonstrated experience and competency in the repair of basic and complex radiology equipment such as X-Ray, Ultrasound, CR, CT, MRI, Nuc Med, Linac, Cath Lab, Mammography, etc
Preferred
+ Eligible for, or maintains, certification as a Certified Radiology Equipment Specialist, CRES

+ Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transport, pull, and push equipment. Will also work on hands and knees and bend to set-up, troubleshoot, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
+ For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles
