Responsibilities
**JOB SUMMARY:** The Bariatric Clinical Reviewer plays a crucial role in ensuring departmental compliance with MBSAQIP Data Registry and other credentialing agencies by efficiently and accurately extracting patient data from medical charts within Epic. This data is then used to document key departmental statistics.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Identifies pertinent patient data as it relates to weight management bariatric surgery and collaborates with a multi-disciplinary team.
Quality Management - Extracts patient data from medical charts using Epic to efficiently document department statistics to comply with MBSAQIP Data registry and other credentialing agencies.
Data Collection and Reporting:
Identifies 100 percent **of** metabolic and bariatric patients for inclusion in the MBSAQIP Registry. Collects preoperative, intraoperative, 30-day postoperative, and long-term follow-up data components for the program through the effective utilization of the hospital medical record systems and through a coordinated effort with individual surgeon office staff.
Identifies streamlining and process improvement opportunities in the data collection process. Demonstrates appropriate utilization of resources necessary to obtain valid, reliable data for entry into the MBSAQIP Registry.
Utilities software applications for data collection and analysis.
Responsible _for_ the accurate, complete and timely entry of data in the MBSAQIP Registry.
Work Effectively with Hospital and Individual Surgeon Office Staff
Establishes effective working relationships with members of the hospital community, especially staff in the surgery, medicine, nursing, medical records, and information systems departments and individual bariatric surgeons' offices whose support is necessary _for_ the management and success of the program. Serves as an educational resource on the MBSAQIP Registry for internal and external audiences by developing educational materials and delivering presentations to the appropriate departments.
1. Completes FMLA and Disability forms for patients, insurance companies and family members **.** Utilizes CPT, Diagnostics and Procedure codes.
2. Medical Records **-** Provides medical records to requesting parties (Attorneys, Government offices, physician offices, patients, **etc.** )
3. General Administrative - Loading of new patient information into EPIC, answering phones, preparing quality presentation materials, coverage for the patient scheduler and insurance coordinator when necessary, meeting minutes, patient scheduling and general office duties.
4. Patient Contact - Answer patient inquiries regarding the program and center.
5. Scheduling - Assist with patient scheduling to include medical exams, initial visits and indicated pre and post op assessment studies with the hospital.
6. Patient Support - Ability to discuss patient concerns pre and post operatively and provide administrative and emotional support throughout workup and follow up procedure.
7. Insurance - Assist with insurance verification and precertification when required.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. BSN preferred.
License/Certification:
• Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse license
• BLS required
• ACLS required on telemetry units within 12 months of hire
Experience: Three (3) to five (5) years of clinical experience.
Skills: Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider certification. The RN must possess demonstrated knowledge,
training and skills necessary and appropriate to the neonate, child, adolescent, adult and older adult. They must
demonstrate communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to deal effectively with multidisciplinary team
members, patients, significant others, and physicians. Must possess effective decision making, assessment and critical
thinking skills. Team leaders and charge nurses must be able to set priorities and effectively delegate/coordinate
multidisciplinary care based on the needs of the patient, census, staffing and unit needs.

Pay Range
$33.52 - $48.60 /hour
